Hey, Dennis Crook, er, www.denniskirk.com Good luck finding it on their * website, but its in the paper catalog alright. Find a local non-affiliated motorcycle shop, as I did, $17, perfect fit. My local shop is also a salvage yard, nice hard working folks. He even put the acid in the battery for me....

Sounds a tad low. I've read 30mph for non-Iowa model.

Mine tops out at about 28mph indicated.

Main tube. Thats the main jet tube in the 'center' of the carb throat. Its also the largest diameter. But remember it is a tube within a tube, and the main jet at the bottom holds the smaller tube inside. So just screw out the jet and drop out the inside tube. Its important because it has a set of t...

Careful on those threads. If you look closely 1 of the carb bolts is longer than the other. The short one goes on outside. Poor top end, I think would be a clogged main feed. 1. Clogged main tube, disassemble and clean the cross holes. 2. Wrong main jet size? Check this against the manual. 3. Maladj...

How many miles on it? With what you have said, and was described by the previous owner, I'd check the compression. If low compression, that may be the power loss. The carb, yes, clean it yourself. It has several very tiny passages that are easily clogged with the tiniest piece of rust. Don't forget,...

Well fellas, I haven't torn down my carb yet, because this weekend the scoot started flawlessly each time cold! Yes, carbs are tempermental beasts. The bystarter circuit has its own little feed tube inside the carb bowl. This tube is fed from the main bowl via a tiny brass insert. This tiny brass in...

OK, so
1. The idle/pilot jet could still be constricted(smaller than spec) with junk.

2. The o-ring for the bystarter isn't sealing well, letting in too much air.
Possible causing the bystart to not draw enough fuel.

3. The crank seal leaks air???

Will let you guys know in a few days.

Ok. I have done that 3 times already. The last time I found the bystarter feed hole in the bowl was clogged and the idle feed was somewhat blocked. I'll go at it again probably next weekend. But this brings a point to document every tiny detail about the carb. On the bystarter tube there are 4 tiny ...

Hard Starting. Too much fuel

Hi All, I've been thinking about this for a week or so and can't figure it out. I have an '84 spree, full stock. From a cold(overnite sitting) start and the correct idle settings it will not start. Checking the plug is very wet (too much fuel). If I turn in the idle screw ALL the way(closed), it wil...

It blocks a fuel pickup tube. As the air flows past a divertor and around the needle low pressure picks up the fuel. The needle settles down into a brass tube, this tube has 4 holes near the top. The tube sits in a cavity in the fuel bowl. This cavity is feed by a very tiny orifice from the main bow...

Describe the fuel gage seal in tank.

Hi All, I need to make or otherwise procure a seal for the fuel gage opening in the tank. If someone could describe the shape, maybe take some measurements. Is it a flat disk, like the filler cap, or a different shape? The very bad part drawing at bike bandit seems to indicate a cylindrical shape. M...

Another '84 Spree rides again...

Since I've been using this forum for helpful hints I just wantd to post back here with the results. After going over the carb like 4 times, I finally got my Spree running yesterday. Woohoo! Man, talk about a freezing blast. I was like 40 degrees out, kids were riding their Christmas toys around. I j...
