variator pulley flat spots

I took my variator apart to clean grease out. I found all the rollers have bad flat spots so I'm replacing with high speed pulley kit. I was just wondering what the rollers do and what the flat spots would cause. It seemed to take off smooth when I rode it, it was just slow and doggy. If anyone is c...

looks like you have the same non-restricted variator as me, can't do anything with it, someone mentioned a different ramp. Or get the high speed pulley kit from vtcycles (in stock).

Looks like my se50p which isn't good, it looks like you have the restricted mufflers, expect 25 mph.

I'm only shaving .010-.015 off head, another member of these forums has already done it so I know it works, thanks for the heads up though.

Thanks jstone. That's the one. I'm putting my 85 shaved head on my 87 elite. I put the elite head on my spree for now, I lost 4 mph with the elite head. Just trying to figure out which head I should put back on the spree...earlier or later design.

exhaust baffle mod how-to

I tore my crap muffler apart to see what was rattling. Notice the drill bit inside muffler? Well, I figured i'd post a pic to show others where the 2 baffles are (near exhaust outlet) and how long bit needs to be. Anyone got an un-modified se50s muffler for 87 elite? http://img179.imageshack.us/img1...

And, is there supposed to be any slack in belt? My longer belt is very snug but rear pulleys are not seperated at all, When the belt spins faster does it cause the pulleys to spread? I'm wondering if I need just alittle bit longer belt.
