Re: Project: Gyro
I have wanted a scooter stereo setup for years but they were more than I ever wanted to pay. ($60+) The price has gone down a lot in the past 10 years, and I got a deal on a "refurbished" one for $30 on ebay. Can't beat that! It looks new to me, so I dunno why they said that. Maybe a retur...

Re: 87 Spree gets hot and stalls while riding.
Cubey what spark plug do you reccomend? The Honda factory service manual says this. I ran a Spree in very hot weather with the standard plug and it never seized, but maybe it was luck. I will probably get the "extended high speed riding" plug for my Gyro and carry the standard in a tool b...

Have you tried a cooler spark plug?

Re: Project: Gyro
It lives! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WJdBSHb6arg It still needs more parts before it can be ridden though: brake shoes, handlebar controls (broken/barely working), seat. The Chinese carb is "good enough" I guess but it's touchy and I'm not sure if the bystarter even works at all. It d...

Re: Honda Gyro Starters
I got the replacement running to start and idle today, after much fussing with the Chinese carb's metal float tab in the bowl. It was flooding/overflowing as it came to me. Then I had it adjusted too far so it would starve for fuel at idle aftter about 5 seconds. Now it seems stable but not perfect....

Re: 2001 Elite help again!!!
Glad you figured it out without a blown motor. I am going to delete the oil injection pump, at least temporarily, on my Gyro. The oil pump cable is broken, and I don't know if either of the two oil pumps I have work. Thankfully, you can just pull a vertical shaft out of the motor to disable the pump...

Re: Honda Gyro Starters
How do people usually go about adapting the stock TG50 harness to the Aero 50/early SA50 starter? I am thinking about getting the short starter harness from an Aero 50 and using it as an adapter, rather then chopping up the stock Gyro harness, just in case I ever want to put a stock Gyro starter on ...

Re: Gyro - general thread
I bought a china carb at one point for the Gyro, don't know which one anymore, but it was a piece of junk. I found that E85 "gas" is 85% ethanol and is a pretty good solvent that melts varnish. It will destroy rubber bits pretty fast I imagine, but it works well inside gas tanks. You have...

Re: finding lock number on 1984 spree
the guy told me that I was supposed to provide proof of ownership otherwise they are not supposed make keys for you. That's a new one to me. The two different Honda dealers I have used never said that. I have had keys made for a Spree, a Helix, a Vino 125, and an Elite 250. The first 3 were keys al...

Re: Gyro - general thread
It looks like it'll work fine to me. I held the carb up to the intake manifold and held the plastic cover over it. The hose barb is under the plastic cover and the cover has plenty of room to make a U turn with hose. All the hose on the scooter is rotten and needs replacing anyway, so I can run a lo...

Re: Project: Gyro
Okay, I was wrong. It is 1.5mm pitch. I picked up the thread pitch gauge today. It was worth $5.xx for that handy little tool. I just ordered this petcock. https://www.ebay.com/itm/262638270589 I am hoping that I can make it fit without butchering the plastic body cover. I'd rather leave the plastic...
