There should be no fuel coming out when the engine is not turning over. That's how the vacuum petcock works. Now you need to pull off the other tube going to the petcock (goes from carb manifold to the lower connector on the petcock) and pull a vacuum on it. With suction on that tube you should get ...

Check thoroughly to make sure your air filter is clean. If it is then it sounds like the carb is running too rich. That can happen on an older higher mileage bike when the main jet opens up and the needle thins due to wear. Another possibility is your bystarter is bad and causing continual rich runn...

Hi: If you want to try some troubleshooting yourself, its best to first check the basics - does it have spark and does it have fuel. To check spark remove the spark plug or use a spare plug if you have one. Stick it on the spark plug and place the side of the plug (threaded metal part) against a bar...

Well that was going to be my fallback option. Was really hoping for something more specific though.

I don't have a stock to compare it with, just 2 of the same big bores with shapes all over the place!

Just remember, you odnt want your intake area perfectly smooth, if its too smooth the fuel will bead up on the walls and cause WORSE performance, rough surface keeps the fuel atomized but that looks too rough. You want rounded holes with a slight bevel so the rings wont catch. Keep in mind that por...

Need help with LX porting

I just bought a cheap large bore (63cc) cylinder for my Elite LX. Its not a great quality piece of work (did I say cheap!), but I got it thinking I could afford to play around with it a little to get used to the 50cc Elite. The ports are poorly finished, so right now I am just cleaning them up by re...

By the way, if you remove the bystarter on a nicely tuned bike it will run like crap unless you block the hole. That makes me suspicious that the bystarter passages may not be as clean as they should be.

Any clues as to the fuel mixture condition from the color of the plug?

Don't try forcing the parts on the bystarter to check it - you could damage it. Attach the contacts to a twelve volt battery. After 5 minutes the tip should extend a few mm. You'll need to measure the distance with a rule before and after because its not easy to see. What is the compression on your ...

will carb cleaner damage the diaphragm? and always remember. don't blow compressed air into the petcock, unless you wan it to always flow..... like mine  I've used the kind that comes in spray cans to clean out obstinate ones with no apparent damage. The "parts cleaner" type stuff i...

It should flow more than that. Imagine an open bottle with the same diameter tube as your gas line attached to the bottom and the fuel at the same height as is in your gas tank to the end of the tube. That's how fast it should flow. Remove the petcock and soak the inside with carb cleaner. Also remo...

It may be worth noting that after you put in a cleaned carb there is no fuel in the bowl for the scooter to run. The engine has to turn over a few times to produce the vacuum that opens the petcock - you need to take that into consideration. I will often "prime" a carb by putting fuel in t...

I don't know of a manual for the CH150, but there's a partial service manual for the CH125. The scooters share just about everything except for cylinder, piston, carb, so for most things its good.

You can find it here:
