Re: Small plastics repair question.
Another way to fix plastics is to drill a small hole through the pin and another through the panel. Find a small nail or other item to make a pin (a small brad works well). Liberally coat both pins with Super Glue, coat both plastic parts liberally, and glue back together with pin in panel and inser...

Re: Still can't get my new 1986 Spree running
17 mm I think. you can spin it (or have someone else spin it) and put your hand over the intake manifold and see if you have any suction. It should be very noticeable. No suction and you have a leak somewhere. Very rare in my experience with rebuilding two Sprees from barn finds.

Re: Still can't get my new 1986 Spree running
Quit cranking that thing and put a socket on an electric drill and put on flywheel. Remember the engine turns COUNTER CLOCKWISE.

Re: Starter Bearing
If it feels bad, pull it with a gear puller. these bearings don't cost much anyway. drive new one back on carefully with pipe (plastic or metal) that only touches inner race.

Re: SPREE HEADLIGHT
I have a sneaking suspicion that the low beam burned out and as soon as i switched on the high beam, the voltage burned it out too. Now the question is where in the world to find a replacement lamp. Cheap Cycle Parts says no longer available. Will research until i find something.

SPREE HEADLIGHT
I notice the low beam on my 86 Spree not working, switched to high beam and it lit up then went off. Any way to check and see if the headlight is good? i got zip continuity between any of the three leads coming out of the light.

Re: pinion not working on spree
If the starter motor is not assembled correctly, it will spin backwards. It is very easy to assemble it wrong and the pinion will not move out. Try removing the starter and disassembling and turning the cover one bolt. then test by hooking to the battery and see if the pinion comes out and it is spi...

86 Spree starts good, runs, then dies
My daughter reports that the 86 Spree I gave her, starts up good, will run to corner, then dies and very difficult to start. I suspect the fuel strainer may be clogged or there may be an issue with the fuel valve. i have suggested she ride until it dies, then quickly remove the float bowl drain and ...

Re: Honda Express NC 50 1978
I eventually finished this rebuild, but have no knowledge of how to convert to kick start. i know for a fact you can start it by removing the right side flywheel cover and use electric drill and 17 mm socket on the flywheel nut. dont remember whether its CW or CCW. My Spree's are CCW, so the Express...

Re: Honda Express Gremlins
yes it has the original airbox and a new air filter. have several 86 Sprees and am aware that they are fussy about the airboxes. i am more inclined to think this is an electrical failure when the components get hot. i am going to pull the flywheel and see if there is anything askew with the points. ...

STARTER MOTOR
Be careful when reassembling a starter motor from a Spree. They can easily be put together one third revolution off, the bolt pattern allows that, and the starter will work, but will spin backwards. I believe the normal rotation is counter clockwise which drives the starter gear clockwise. the motor...
