Re: 84 Nifty Fifty won't start

OK, just replaced the old petrol with new and cleaned the carb again. STILL NOTHING. Now it won't even start with WD40 down the jug. I don't understand. How could this happen? It was running last night and now, magically overnight it refuses to fire up? It's driving me crazy. I feel like tearing out...

Re: 84 Nifty Fifty won't start

Hey there, yep it's standard grade, I believe we do it the same as Europe. Anyway, I replaced the carburettor with another one that I had since the bystarter was stuffed and the other carburettor has a manual choke, but I also had to replace the air intake tube, intake manifold and reeds because the...

84 Nifty Fifty won't start

Had my Nifty Fifty working great for ages, then one day I had to lift the scooter over something, so I "wheelied" it up (with engine not running) and pushed it along on one wheel for a couple of metres. Ever since that day, it was very difficult to start, sometimes REFUSED to start, someti...

You do know that on the Spree, Aero, and Elite, the cooling fan actually pulls air from up underneath the seat, around the cylinder and blows it OUT through the fan shroud on the side of the motor, right? That's why each of the two rear body panels has three little intake vents near the floor of th...

Well, I just took it for a pretty long ride, about 7 miles, and it didn't falter once. I didn't ride it full throttle, just did 25mph which is OK for me.

Has anyone ever attached a thermometer to their spree and had the gauge in the instrument panel?

I'm assuming the thermal decoupler was the wine-coloured gasket thing? I did have that down upside down, but I had it around the right way. The o-ring didn't look THAT great but in saying that, it wasn't *. The o-ring on the carb itself looked OK as well. I have decided that I am going to leave the ...

I didn't realise the thermal decoupler could go on upside down. I'm pretty sure I got it around the right way but I'll check to make sure. One thing I have just remembered. I lost the original decoupler so I took my current one off the other spree carby I have, which has a smaller fuel/air outlet. W...

Relays are normally pretty easy to fix. Take it to bits (take it out of its black plastic cover) and then hook it back up. You will see a capacitor (like this http://tinyurl.com/6fgumk) make sure it doesn't look swollen or anything. Spray it all with electrical cleaner or WD-40. I used WD-40 on my r...

Maybe I will need to... but I don't have a lot of money and I am guessing it would cost a fair bit to get one sent to NZ. I just took it for a quick ride up the road. With the bystarter needle IN, the engine backfired at WOT and was losing power pretty bad. I turned off the ignition and rolled in an...
