Re: "Race" cdi- yes/no

No point in doing it unless you have CDI related problems. Only Japan model AF18E DIOs came with a factory speed restriction built into the CDI.

Re: How do rings go bad from just sitting

Being in Hawaii we're not experts at storing bikes seasonally however I would think along the lines of how corrosion and other factors may contribute to changing the properties of the bore/piston/rings over an extended time. Engine oil can help but only until the oil can maintain a film on the parts...

Re: My chinese encounter.....

I have an old friend who used to own a moped shop riding his monster that was at a stop light. A Camaro was side by side with him at the stop light as well looking at my friend like he was a retard for putting so much effort into making a moped "look" fast. Since my friend was still trying...

Re: 2-smoke emissions vs. auto emissions

Bear's right on it again. 2 strokes on mopeds have a unsolveable overlap period where both the intake and exhaust ports are wide open which allows a lot of unburned fuel to escape into the environment. This produces a ton of unburned hydrocarbons (UHC) which are very toxic. Ontop of this 2 strokes b...

Re: what is the ultimate 2 stroke 50cc "Tuner" platform?

Yamaha Jog motors are incredible, they are light years ahead of the Honda DIO 2 stroke engines. DIO engines aren't true crossflow designs which in itself is a huge handicap. Tuned 90cc JOGs are a very good match up for 125cc DIOs. F1 type start due to weight reduction http://video.google.com/videopl...

Re: Nicasil 49mm Bore; Noob? Dubh?

You can feel the intake/compression on the kicker, you should be on the downward stroke when you feel when the engine rotates easily (usually during the power/exhaust cycle).

You've guessed correctly my friend, CHT and EGT.

Re: Nicasil 49mm Bore; Noob? Dubh?

Polini bores are incredible. People used to contest my break in procedures but some are really hard pressed with myths. I still have about 10 customers that have over 50k miles on the bore that ride everyday and the bore is in very good condition with hardly any measureable wear. Contrary to belief,...

Re: honda dio prob

T-gas makes several pipes for the DIO, it would help if we knew which one you had. The problem you're having is you have a lean spot which is causing that bog. I have a feeling the problem cannot be corrected using a stock carb. If you are trying to use this pipe on a normal 50cc engine, that's not ...

Re: wont throttle past half throttle?????

Bear is right. The stock spree is designed by Honda to have the carb jetting to be lean (low on fuel, higher on air) without the airbox. By imposing a restriction from the complete airbox housing, the size of the fresh inlet hole combined with the foam filter element provides the necessary adjustmen...

I would think being from Hawaii, I'd say the probability is >95% that its for a DIO. We throw away AF05s.
