Short and sweet is good. Float could be the problem, maybe not. Cracked fuel line at the carb + defective petcock could do it too. It's a siimple thing to check before you pull the carb.

I found the fuel level sender unit at a Genuine Soichiro Honda dealership: New Old Stock - $55. They no longer have the tank but a local Scooter Guru might be able to find one. I hate, Hate, HATE fuel tank cleaning.

Thanks for recommending the BPR8 HS (hotter) plug. In fact I purchased a BPR 6 over the weekend before I got back to the Forum and its Collective Wisdom. I will break it in with the 6 keeping mindful not to flog it until I can get back to the Honda store and get the 8.
