Re: Replacing carb on '86 Honda Spree NQ50 but the new part is different?

Greetings:

Yes the bystarter is on the wrong side of the venturi. It's for an Aero or Elite.

Re: RIP maddog

Greetings:

He sent me one of those Contra spring bearing seats too. RIP indeed. Don't suppose a pic of that Elusive Aero is forthcoming?

Re: 89 elite front rim on Aero question

Greetings: Memory grows dim from 2008, but I'm certain I used a Metropolitan front rim on my 1987 Aero. If I recall correctly I just had to use an Elite 1994+ brake panel, because the Aero's front brake was smaller in diameter. I don't recall ever getting a 1987-1993 Elite rim. I wanted the Tubeless...

Re: Chinese Carb Success(?)

Greetings: 3 months in from replacement with eBay $20 Chinese carb. Still doesn't leak (like my particular Honda PA carb did). Still starts first kick, this time after sitting over a week, although it did threaten to stall before reviving. Also still likes some throttle when starting a warm engine. ...

Greetings:

Hmm, hard to tell on a video what you're feeling. Seals installed will create a little friction, though.

Re: Oil in carburetor

Greetings: If storing the scooter for a long winter, I recommend draining the tank completely, then run the engine until it stalls. A dry carb won't gum up over the winter and require a carb cleaning. If you do get a fuel shut-off installed, measure out some Stabil and put it in the tank to preserve...

Re: Chinese Carb Success(?)

Greetings: Just under 4 weeks, and fired up with a single kick this morning having sat for 3-4 days. Mystery why this is no longer an issue. Weird that it likes throttle to fire when warm, whereas the Honda would NOT want any. Otherwise: Still runs fine, but I'm NOT selling the Honda PA carb just ye...

Re: Chinese Carb Success(?)

Greetings: Another weird thing with this carb - in a good way. So far since it was installed, the scooter starts when cold on first kick. EVEN when it hasn't run in a couple of days. The PA carb would always "dry out" and it would take 10-25 kicks to prime and start. So far no leaks from t...

Re: Headlights and turn signals suddenly don’t work

Greetings:

If the symptoms appeared suddenly, it sounds like the alternator has failed. (or a wire connection - hopefully) That would explain both the 10-volt reading on the battery AND the headlight not working. Good luck with the alternator.

Re: Chinese Carb Success(?)

Greetings: Those filters of yours are The Bomb, Noisy! Lower resistance with light oiling and keep Flash innards squeaky-clean and happy. So fired up Flash last night for a quick after-dark run to the USPO. Maybe a 2-mile run to the post-office. Temperature 66, relative humidity 92%. This is very co...

Re: Chinese Carb Success(?)

Greetings: Garage Therapy Sunday saw the Honda PA carb pulled from Berryman Bath. Getting ready: F9CARBPREP.jpg I had a plastic tub to minimize mess. No carb cleaner on hand, brake parts cleaner had to do. Attention turned immediately to the Pilot orifice - the suspected cause of recent misbehavior....

Re: Chinese Carb Success(?)

Greetings:

Huh!! So far none of those issues on this one. Just the different carb cap thing and needing to adjust the throttle cable almost to the limit. I was pretty tame screwing in the Main. When (If...) the weather improves I'll have more to say.
