Re: '86 Spree starts/runs, dies at 15 mph

Sounds like a carburetor issue, or possibly a spark plug issue. Maybe do a plug chop, see how it looks.

Re: spree won't start

Couple things you can try. First, does it sound like it wants to start? Or is the piston just moving. How old is the gas? If its old, start there. Dump it and try new fuel. Then , I would try a little gas in the chamber, if it fires a little, then its might not have proper fuel management. Next , if...

I just need 10 more Kph out of my 1987 Spree!! Any ideas?

Hello! I haven't owned a scooter in quite some time. I just picked up an 87 Spree in GREAT condition! The only trouble is it seems to max out at 50Kph. Aside from the bigger cylinder and piston route, is there anything a little smaller I can do to squeeze about 10 more Kph out of it?? Thanks so much!!

Well its already ordered, so I guess i'll wait.

But, just out of curiosity, what kinds of problems can occur with a used head gasket?

Re: Bearings

Greetings: Check what you can from topside. Crank at top; jiggle the rod. It should not move side-to-side more than a mm or so. There should be NO play up&down. If there is, split the cases and see why. If it's OK, proceed with another wash & lube. I'm hoping it's OK. If that is a solid tec...

I cant find the thread that talks about too lean/rich

I think I read a thread a thread about how to tell if im running too lean or too rich. Does anyone know what thread I mean? Can you post a link?

I'll delete this thread right after I find it.

Thanks, I just want to read up on it before I put my scoot back together!

Im not a short cut kinda guy either and I would love to split the crank case, but i just don't have the tools. So what i think i'll do is try to lube the bearing a little and see if that stops the sticking.

If not, I guess it's off to the tool store (sometimes my favorite spot)!!

So i hope maybe it was just getting stuck due to the lack of lubricant in the case at the time!

So i was turning the pully(?) by hand today as I was flushing the motor. I noticed that at some points in the cycle(piston going up and down), the crankshaft arm would get stuck. It looked like it was getting stuck at the bearing, right between the two plates that sit on each side of the bearing. I ...
