Thanks eliteguy50 - I hadn't even gotten that far (tire selection) in thinking about it yet. Definitely something to really consider.
I see looking at a few sites that a new rear Met wheel runs around $75.
I'll need to do a search of the classifieds here and see what comes up.

Re: Looking for Scooter Mechanic in Michigan
Yeah, 50mph was the goal before but now I've caught the bug....just can't leave well enough alone!
Anyplace in particular to get a Met rear wheel or is it just watch the classifieds here and pick one up?
How about aftermarket?

Re: Looking for Scooter Mechanic in Michigan
Should I change the rear wheel to a Met on this Elite?
I've read here that many have done that and reasoning is that a larger footprint will be more stable at higher speeds.
I saw some references to some aftermarket rims but didn't see where people were buying those from.

Re: Looking for Scooter Mechanic in Michigan
swimmingfree - Absolutely, you've hit the nail on the head! And for me, buying from an OEM that is VERY conscious about part quality and NOT wanting to get sued or have some huge recall that hurts their image and bottom line, means that I'm more likely to get a quality part from them versus buying f...

Re: Looking for Scooter Mechanic in Michigan
Sorry - typo in the last sentence - we have to revalidate material every year to make sure Chinese suppliers DO NOT sub inferior/cheaper metal.

Re: Looking for Scooter Mechanic in Michigan
Marking on a part doesn't really mean a lot. My day job is that of being a Honda supplier (tier 1). Issue that I run into all the time with Chinese suppliers is that even though the drawing calls out a specific material, it will be that material at the start of production (high grade material) but y...

Re: Looking for Scooter Mechanic in Michigan
Completely understand what you're saying - I mostly paid for the convenience and almost no time investment (sat at my desk, did a little typing, and they will appear at my desk = magic!) and to some extent peace of mind knowing when they arrive in the Honda bag that they should indeed fit and that i...

Re: Looking for Scooter Mechanic in Michigan
OEM Bearings and Seals ordered from RonAyers.com - bearings were $11.39 each and seals were $3.80 for one and $3.64 for the other and just $5 shipping. I did hear back from VT Cycles - he has an airbox that's coming to him next Wednesday and also has oil pump plug (only in silver though) that he has...

Re: Looking for Scooter Mechanic in Michigan
Understood - I'll go with OEM.
We don't have a Honda dealership in town anymore so I'll just do the on-line thing.
Thanks Guys!

Re: Looking for Scooter Mechanic in Michigan
To be honest, I'm not sure of Autotech bearing quality. Is there a particular bearing source that would be better? I'm definitely about getting quality parts into my Elite - just need to be told what/where to buy. Looking around the site, it seems that others have purchased from him/them before with...
