i am starting to think it will be between re-threading and somehow putting a steel nut captive in the carb mounting flange. has anybody tried to inset a nut into the carb? since the carb is made of such soft metal, i dont want to run into this issue again in the future.

when i got my aero 50, the carb threads were stripped out and the owner put helicoils in to fix it. this did not remedy the situation and just further gummed up the threads in the carb. i have temporarily fixed the problem with smaller diameter bolts and nuts that sandwich the intake, gasket and the...

the way i look at it, you have a gallon gas tank (if that), and really low oil consumption...
there is no reason not to use good gas and oil. the worst thing that happens is that it burns as smoke free as possible and get a minuscule power gain from a higher octane.
