Yeah I need sound but that camera doesn't have it. I have reinstalled the powerjet and may be a bit rich but it is pulling clean, running about 50 on my Garmin.

Re: old rider, new 86cc Dio
Yeah Burnt, you and some others seem to have good ideas. I kind of inherited this build as my wife had both this bike and a 150 honda. She sold the 150 Honda and I was stuck into making this thing more fun. When she bought the bike she and I didn't understand the limitations in speed or modification...

ch80 CV carb.
The spring goes over the piston and pushes it down. Its purpose is to keep the the air speed high over the venturi. Between part 4 and 11. It is missing on the diagram. If it isn't going up you may have a vacuum leak.

Jetting and drivability
Today I worked on the 89 EliteE. The engine has been four stroking once it comes up on the pipe. I have a 28 mm OKO carb rather longish Mx pipe. I ended up dropping to a 130 jet. I had originally a 154 (yeah kind of a funny number but that is what it said). The bike wheelies just after opening he th...

Not the most dramatic of jobs
I got tired of leaning the bike against stuff, so today I worked on the side stand. I had read about a 90 dollar bolt on stand. I thought about making one like that and thought that the the center of gravity was further back so I changed it a bit. For materials I had an old van seat that the dog had...

Re: Aftermarket mods illegal?
Alternatively get a motorcycle license and you can ride your 50 where ever you want as long as you can keep up with traffic.
Save your energy. Quit worrying about attracting law enforcement over a scooter.

That is one nice pipe. Makes me think that my pipe is too long. I wouldn't worry about kinks as long as the area doesnt change much. At least that is what Jennings said 35 years ago.

Re: 2-smoke emissions vs. auto emissions
On factor overlooked is the energy it went into making the vehicle. There are reports that a Hummer takes less energy to build and drive 100,000 miles than a Prius. I would say that on a per mile basis there are more emissions from a 20 year old 2 stroke scooter but if you looked at the total energy...

Are your tires DOT legal? They look like slicks.

not done but better
I got some springs for the clutch today. I got them at the hardware store in 3 thicknesses. I tried the .028"x1/4"x17turn first. I could feel them drag at idle the clutch was not getting nearly as hot but hey it worked. I thought that I should go to the .035"x1/4"x12turn and that...

Re: 3.25-10 Tires
I have a 90/90x10 pirelli on the back of my converted elite50e. The rim on back is a 1.85" and the tire is 89 mm wide inflated. The height is 72mm from the edge of the rim to the edge of the tire. it corresponds to the 3.5" width and about 3" height. My stand has been cut off as the m...

Re: old rider, new 86cc Elite E
I can see what you are doing by trying to delay the ratio change and appreciate your comments. I just don't think I need the engine at such an extreme rpm to get it rolling. I am not using it for drag racing. I just want it to get going without having to run 7000 -8000rpm. Maybe the clutch is burned...

Re: old rider, new 86cc Elite E
So far I don't need a longer shock. Nothing touches. The inner fender was removed. The body panels fit, we have notched the right body panel near the front so that it clears the engine fan. Still working on tuning. Next step there is to put lighter clutch springs in as the belt is moving up before t...

Re: old rider, new 86cc Elite E
Mouse I didn't have a bolt when I was mocking it up so slipped the quick release in. I am using hardened 3/8' bolts on both shafts. A 5" for the front hole and a 6" for the motor to adaptor. The stock front bolt could be used but somehow it had disappeared. As far as unwinding goes... I we...

Re: old rider, new 86cc Elite E
Today was the day that I welded up the expansion chamber. I used a Honda CR85 chamber $20. I figured that the scooter would not want to rev like the water cooled race bike. So I made it longer I was shooting for 8000 rpm and just grafted it on. Had to cut it in various places turn it 180degrees a co...
