Re: What do you use your Scooter for?
1. Pit bike. 2. Grocery getter. 3. RV/camping runaround vehicle. 4. Beach House Transport. 5. Joy rides around the house with my daughter. 6. One time I had to drag 100s of laurel branches ~200yds to the burn pile. I could drag 10 or so by hand, or 3 at a time with the spree. 7. Commuting- I ...

Please don't build this.
I'm sure this creation will sell quickly[/sarcasm], so I'm going to post the ad here incase it's gone by the time you follow the link: http://portland.craigslist.org/mlt/mcy/1731389196.html Now I can handle some creative builds, and I appreciate craftsmanship. But I'm trying to figure out why anyone...

Re: '86 spree's carb has suddenly started leaking gas
I would guess that you have a bad float valve and a bad petcock valve. both would have to fail to let gas continually flow. I'm leaning toward the idea that some rust or other debris got past the petcock screen before you replaced the fuel line. All it would take is 2 tiny grains of sand to get in t...

Re: Noob help! Spree keeps dying.
I'm a little skeptical still that it is the fuel not moving quickly enough from the petcock into the carb. once i hit 5mph at full throttle itll die quickly, but if i let off in time itll stutter back to idle and stay running. Half throttle has similar results, while it doesn't die as quickly it st...

Re: 85 Spree, test bed for mods
Hey Keith, First off, I have to say thanks for all your work. I love the documentation, graphs, scientific approach, creativity, etc. etc. It took me a couple pages to figure out that you're a retired man (engineer?) and not some 14yr old with some of dad's tools. :urban: I see that you sold the tes...

After looking at what a Mud Dauber is online, that's exactly what it is.Saved wrote:If I had to guess, I'd say that a mud dauber got in there and built a nest.

Re: Exhaust bug plug
unless you are gonna redesign the system, you will be wasting your time and taking a chance of seizing your motor from being to lean. Hummm. bummer. almost every motor I've ever owned has some free or easy mods to get just a little better running engine. I've been reading on this site for several h...

Exhaust bug plug
Just a story that might help out another Spree owner. Part 1: I went to ride the spree to work Friday and she wouldn't start. Turned over 'till the battery died, but never fired. It was like she wanted to fire, but just wouldn't. I had just ridden her 3 days prior with no problems. I hooked up the b...

Re: Might be different for every state
Well, the guy I bought the Spree from has owned it since 1988 and never registered it. Then he lost the plate, title, and bill of sale sometime in the last 20 years as it was stored in his mom's garage. This is a true story, although it sounds like I could have made it up. I finally got the DMV to l...

Re: Might be different for every state
this is an old post, but I have exactly the same problem. I have a Spree that hasn't been registered in 20 years. and it wasn't registered in Oregon; I know that at least. It doesn't have a plate or a title, doesn't come up on CarFax. I've been to the DMV 2x and they require an MSO or a title to reg...
