70cc Spree? Big bore or swap?

Saw this on CL today from a local guy. It's a very clean 84. I don't know if he's on this board or not. 1984 honda spree 360 miles on clock. just added a 70cc kit this thing is quick. only 3 miles on new topend. have all paper work still registers as a 49cc. this scoot is still basicly new. just lik...

Re: kick start spring -any tips and tricks

Maybe I'm reading the question wrong but... I did the kickstart swap on my 85 and the instructions talked about how hard it is to get the spring set right. Well, the way I got it set was by putting the kick lever back on the cover (with it off the bike) and 'cranked' it by hand a few times with the ...

Re: Replacing throttle cable on '87 spree?

Can you describe what was wrong w/the throttle cable? You may have just misaligned it when screwing it on again.

Check out the Kreem products. They have rust removal, tank etching, and liner products.

Re: spree idles, no go.

Yeah. The dealer. Any gaskets, filters, rings etc you can get from there cheaply. If you need parts-parts I'd try here before new or eBay. Most guys will quote a great price.

That will clean up nicely. Good find.

Re: Projects, projects and more projects.

I'm surprised you didn't say, "Hoveround - Dude, swap in a Dio. "

Sorry - off topic. :b2t:

Side note: I got my first Spree for $100 in 1986 with paper route money. I can still hear the Detroit Free Press slamming into the screen doors as I flew by on my hog.

Re: spree idles, no go.

Don't buy that $22 air filter from that dude on eBay. They cost $4 at Honda. It's pre-oiled but oil it when you get it.

Uh...pics please?

There was a thread a while back called "Bumps cause Spreeicide" or something like that. You might find more info there as well.

I like all scooters - except the Hoveround so i think it's cool. The saddle bags make it look like you're doing a paper route.

Re: spree idles, no go.

Welcome! Clean the carb then clean it again. I did mine twice, it still ran crappy then cleaned it one more time. You wouldn't believe how dirty the rag/Qtips were even after the third one. Be sure to push out that barrel behind the jet. That was filthy on mine. Runs great now. $75? You got a great ...

Re: 1984 Spree NQ50 wont start. Alternator problem?

Do a nice slow charge on the battery with a battery charger. Put it on the lowest setting like 2 amps then try it. If it's been sitting since March it's dead. Jump starting won't charge it.

Re: nq50 86 Spree wont start?

Check the reeds. I just had this issue- new rings, plug, etc and found one reed had a chunk of dirt holding it open. That would give you little compression to start it. Takes five minutes to pull the intake and peek at them. While it's off, spray some carb cleaner on them and wipe them with a QTip. ...
