Re: Carbon fiber reeds - new product

How frequently do you need to replace the reeds? My '01 Elite has about 5k on it...is it something I should be looking into? If there's any gap between the block and the reed on removal, they need replaced. Aside from that it's a common performance upgrade. The Spree reeds are about completed; will...

Re: Starter bolts!

If you go to parts sites like Partzilla, the Honda parts drawings specify the type and length of all bolts on the scooter. For example: BOLT, FLANGE (6X20) is a flange bolt M6 20mm long.

Re: 87 Honda Aero 50, driven gear sheared off. fixable?

You need to read up on engine swaps and what's involved. Only another 1987 SE50 engine will be a direct swap-in. The SA50 engine will fit, but will likely require rework of engine mount (read: welding) and probably some other minor items.

Re: 87 Honda Aero 50, driven gear sheared off. fixable?

Basically there's only one part you need out of that mess, and it's the SA50 engine, only if it's in working order. The older Aero 50 is so unusual as to be... much less valuable except perhaps in part. I'm betting the SA50 is frame wrecked.

Re: 87 Honda Aero 50, driven gear sheared off. fixable?

Ok, is something like this more like it ? I'm sure this is a huge pita to swap, like you guys said. That crank may be correct but it's been sitting in a wet environment and per seller needs rod bottom end bearing replaced. I changed my mind; swapping *that* bearing is the hardest job on the engine....

Re: 87 Honda Aero 50, driven gear sheared off. fixable?

If I was going to swap in a different motor and let's say I couldn't find a working 87 Aero 50. Does anyone know what other options I have? Can I swap in something newer like an Elite motor? Thanks again for all the help! I wouldn't focus on a running '87 Elite motor. I'd focus on any '87 Elite 50 ...

Carbon fiber reeds - new product

Folks:

Thinking about having some carbon fiber reeds made up for Honda Spree (and eventually other models.) Here's the current design, which (I think) covers the SB50 and 86/87 reed blocks.

Who's interested?

Re: 2 throttle cables? Noob

Make sure to verify that the pump works once you get it started. At idle you'll get something like 1 drop every 5 seconds or so, and opening the pump up it will exit faster.

Re: Front tire tilted toward left fork

I found the photo makes it appear there is a large error - too large to be believe. I will show what I did with your photo. Some other member will have more ideas :hi: Suspension_Arm_Alignment.jpg That's a pretty minor mis-alignment... what I look for is the top of tire should have same gap to fork...

Re: 87 Honda Aero 50, driven gear sheared off. fixable?

So what happened here was the PO sheared the splines off the crank, probably b/c the nut was loose or fell off. Those splines are what drive the belt. Since the splines were gone, he welded the pulley half to the remainder of the shaft, along with the nut. Welding would have removed the temper off t...

Re: Front tire tilted toward left fork

I'm betting it's a bent fork. That bent stand was from an accident and it bent fork at same time.
