Re: Starter gear noise?

Greetings:

Is there a gasket behind the belt cover? This 0.8mm of space is factored into the kickstarter castle spacing. If missing, the teeth can make a light contact. One other thing to check is for a loose metal cooling shroud or muffler heat shield somewhere.

Re: 1985 "Trash Aero" project

Greetings: M'eh, oil is oil, for the most part. I've used Motul pre-mix ever since my first Aero, on stock, Polini and then Malossi cylinders. Flash 1-9 has had a number of different cylinders as well. I've never found a problem on rebuilds. That said I'd have no problem using any other synthetic br...

Much respect. One concern: Does anyone have experience with the AF16 alternator and its capacity to run a couple of cooling fans?

Re: ET ISO

Greetings: More ISO pics. Scooters3Rz.jpg The belt cover is WAYY more of a PIA to remove than beloved Honda's. This one is fragile, too, and it took over an hour to figure out multiple snags preventing removal without too much Leverage. Once off, it went back on without much of a struggle, and took ...

Re: af16 build questions

Greetings:

9:1 gears do great on stock or mildly modified (iron cylinder) Sport setups. They are a bit short for a Corsa in my experience, unless your priority is acceleration over top speed. Consider 8.3s or taller.

ET ISO

Greetings: Seeking a 3rd scoot for Wheel-Boy, responded to a posting on The Book of Face Marketing for a "2003 Red Vespa" which the seller stated "runs Great!" Asking $1600. Not bad for an ET, which I presumed to be a 50cc. Called the seller and was told it's in 7/10 cosmetically, which was about ri...

Congrats on a careful, thoughtful, and broken-bit-free installation. Mind-boggling that Honda saw fit not to drill and tap the bosses!

Greetings:

Rattle AND no-start issue might BOTH be due to Flywheel having spun on its shaft, especially if someone has removed it in the past.

Re: AF27 Dio oil tank as fuel tank?

Yes, polyethylene tanks will hold gasoline indefinitely - all the snowmobiles I've owned had 'em. Also my fuel cans are made of the stuff.

Re: AF27 Dio oil tank as fuel tank?

Greetings:

I did this on my SA50 Elite. The rubber fitting attached to the oil tank eventually deteriorated and leaked, gradually worsening over time. Plus you only get about a quart of capacity, at least on the SA model.
