Re: My 1999 Elite S with 230 miles.

Greetings:

I'm just wondering why you didn't turn around and try a run with a 15-MPH Tailwind?

Re: Honda Dio - issues/questions

Greetings:

Consider changing the spark plug, clean/replace the air filter, and follow List instructions to disassemble and inspect the variator rollers, replace as needed.

Re: fuel Problem

Greetings: Bones is absolutely correct, and I have the same problem with my stock-carbed Elite SR. I seem to recall a picture or a diagram of the lines plumbed into the carb/airbox assembly that presumably mitigate this evaporation effect. It's somewhere in the Factory Manual. Could someone please p...

Re: 86 Honda Spree won't start I've tried everything

Greetings:

If you got a result of 75 on compression test, it's not certain that the rings are "fine". Another place for compression loss occurs if the crank end-seals are leaking. Look for oil trickles below the seal sockets, at both ends of the crank.

Re: Honda Elite 50/80 or Kymco Cobra

Greetings: Be careful with 1989. The small Elite "E" can be confused with the regular Elite and is nothing like it. The E engine is descended from the Spree design, and a strong runner will rarely exceed 35MPH in stock form. Mods are limited, too. The 1989 "Regular" Elite has the variated SE-05 engi...

Re: 87 spree running issues

Greetings:

Bones is onto something! Hopefully the fouled ground or connection doesn't require stripping ALL the plastics to find.

Re: Lightweight Rear Rim Option for SA50

Greetings:

fEeBaY listing says drum diameter is 110. Elite panel is 95 if I recall correctly. Then there's the spline count on the axle. Finally, there's no weight listed. It's not a sure thing that a cast Al-Yew-Minnie-Yum wheel is going to be lighter than the stamped Elite/Met 3-spoker.

Re: 86 Honda Spree won't start I've tried everything

Greetings: After RIGOROUS cleaning of the mating surfaces as Meatball suggested, don't leave the tiniest Speck of old gasket, here's another strategy for base (NOT Head!) gasket installation: Smear some high-temperature grease on both sides of the paper gasket prior to installation. I use Harley-Dav...

Elusive SE-05 Chamber Pipe

Greetings:

Just browsing over at Treatland and spotted this. Looks dope, not sure you can mount with plastics however. Looks hotter than the #4447 pipe kit I had.

Re: Replacement Headlight Unit for MB5

Greetings:

So what's up with MB5s blowing so many headlamps? 5-speed over-rev and a faulty voltage regulator?

Greetings:

I got mine at Harbor Freight for crazy-cheap. Just make sure you follow procedure correctly, open throttle, read when the needle stops climbing.

Re: 86 Honda Spree won't start I've tried everything

Greetings: I believe the first post in this thread established that the petcock was functional. A proper compression test is necessary - the Thumb Test is not very reliable. Not much harder than removing the spark plug and you'll have an answer. Keep the throttle open wide or remove the carburetor (...

Re: Trying to get an af16 elite to run

Greetings: I surmise a Clue from the statement that "it will run great at first...", suggesting that it's running at low speed off the open bystarter circuit. Once it closes the Pilot circuit isn't functioning, as suggested by its behavior. If one of Bone's excellent suggestions solves the issue, gr...

Re: 2-Cycle Engine Nollidge

BTW, that 40.74 HP at the REAR WHEEL works out to a whopping 163 HP/Liter. Only the hottest of (Non-supercharged) Japanese liter-bikes approach this value. Gosh I love 2-strokes...

Re: 2-Cycle Engine Nollidge

Greetings:

More 2-smoke nollidge, here. It's nice to see some manufacturers haven't entirely given up on 2-stroke tech, albeit this is a race-only off-road model.
