Re: jetting a se50

Greetings: The REAR ZX pulley fits the clutch shaft just fine, but the wider belt requires 2.5 mm more space between the variator and the outer pulley sheave. Here is the problem; the skinnier AF05 crank. The splines aren't long enough the engage the outer sheave properly. I recall someone here post...

Re: Wire starts smoking

Greetings: The starter circuit is a high-amperage affair. You may have noticed the wires are bigger in gauge (10?) than the other scooter circuits. A non-stock, thinner wire replacement will overheat and burn quickly - make sure the wire gauge is stock. If not the wire, make sure the connections are...

Re: Stripped spark plug hole

Greetings: Most of us have gotten in a hurry and cross-threaded something. Lots of Forum members have opted for the big-bore option on their Sprees. Good used heads are cheap and easy to find. You might have to remove all the plastics to get the cooling shrouds off and get to the head. Another optio...

Re: Flash 9: Sanity Restored

Greetings: Been so long... no longer exactly sure. Mid-stiffness spring - I came up with a way to compare springs using a bathroom scale and a defined compression distance. Variator load feels like it's about 3 grams too light. Engine winds up higher, then settles down to torque peak, losing a half-...

Re: NB50 Front tire mod

Greetings:

'85 had the 2-bolt intake and no kickstarter, but otherwise the same as '86 and '87. Gearing was 11:1, like the earlier Aeros. Coveted '87 Elite S 10:1s are very hard to find.

Re: NB50 Front tire mod

Greetings

I ran Met wheels and 90/90s front and rear on my '87 Aero. The centerstand will need modification to clear the back tire, and the front will kiss the fender over curb cuts, but otherwise it's fine.

Re: Bought a 87 Honda Elite 50 (non running) - where to begin?

Greetings:

The outer cover might be too close to the drive sheave. Try a couple of washers between the case and the cover if you don't have the gasket.

Re: Dio in Maui

Greetings:

You're correct Dub! That was in Lahaina. Seems like the "Formula" is followed everywhere. I didn't see a speed limit >55 anywhere on Maui, so that scooter can get around. I would have loved to have mine there for the road to Hana.

Re: SB50P Fires but Won’t Run

Greetings: If your gaskets and reeds aren't leaking, that pretty much leaves the ring seal as the reason for low compression. Rings have little notches in the ends that cradle a tiny metal pin in the ring lands - and it's pretty easy for these to become misaligned. Kits from the Far East are known t...

Dio in Maui

Greetings:

Just back from a short trip to Maui. Saw this sturdy fellow, with a whompin'-big OKO carb and aftermarket pipe.

Re: Elite SR problems

Greetings: Elite SR wasn't sold in the U. S. and A. after 2001, but I don't know about other markets. The amount of oil in the tank after draining the premix is unlikely to be the cause of such bad performance, although I agree with Mike that the smoke is in the muffler and should clear with time. W...

Re: Only Starts on Charger

Greetings: A "fully-charged" battery won't have much power if it's more than 5-7 years old. The battery charger will show Green, but the energy stored in a sulfated battery may not be enoughto throw the relay, much less turn on lights and crank the engine. Your symptoms suggest you need only purchas...

Re: 86 Honda Elite SR 50CC wont stay running

Greetings: The Elite SR bowed in the U.S. after 1987 - check your model year again. The P.O.'s top end job is suspect. What was the compression PSI? Base gasket leaks, just for one example, can lead to all kinds of problems. So can crank seals. Also a reed valve staying open will make it impossible ...
