Re: Flash 9: Sanity Restored

Greetings: Still going strong, with the only issue the following: It's back to taking 10 or more kicks to fire up unless I start it about every other day. Apparently I misspoke a couple of posts above; 4992 miles on the odometer, about to turn 5! Iron Polini cylinder, still with (super-quiet) stock ...

Re: WTB: 1984 Honda Spree rear brake cable

Greetings: Just be sure it is in fact just the cable. I have seldom seen them seize up firmly, but the brake LEVER ARM is a frequent lock-up suspect. The steel shaft pivots on raw aluminum. The grease dries up and goes away, allowing anodic corrosion to take over and lock it up Tight. I've had to re...

Greetings:

I'm pretty sure the throat diameter is nominally 14mm, but don't have the manifold or the airbox dimensions handy.

Re: Can't find proper carburetor.

Greetings: The Spree and its SB50 successor have an issue with how tight everything fits around the rear spring/damper assembly and the svelte body work. Later NB50 Aero and Elite models mounted the bystarter inboard, simply because there's more room. The vast majority of online carb suppliers cater...

Re: Arrow pipe on stock bore - what main jet to use?

Greetings:

Kill it if it approaches 400F. at the cylinder head. I have a feeling that the tame Stock port timing won't be able to harmonize with the Arrow. It might even be slower than the stock pipe. Hope I'm mistaked.

Re: Arrow pipe on stock bore - what main jet to use?

Greetings: It's possible nobody has ever installed that Exotic Exhaust on a stock bore, Ever. If you're using the stock airbox, you might just try the 80 that's in there now, but keep a close watch on the temperature. Variator weights can be lightened significantly to let the engine ring in harmony ...

Re: aero 50 belt

Greetings:

15mm is the minimum width, as I recall. Some P.O. might've simply put the wrong belt on it. Check for markings on the belt you have. It should measure no more than 644mm with a tape run around the outside.

Re: SPREE (and Elite) REPLACEMENT DECALS SCANNED 4 U !!

Greetings:

If you mean my 49RR, they were decals I found years ago on fEeBaY. Stuck 'em on my side skirts and they never left... Seems a little pretentious when you think they're identical to the graphics on the mighty CBRs, but that's what makes them fun.

Re: 1999 Elite S w/ Polini Corsa: What GEARS ?

Greetings: Not all the listed gears will be easy to find. Be aware that 9:1 gears work pretty well on an otherwise completely stock Elite, so with all the go-faster goodies you're getting, you could consider going a good bit taller. 8.44:1 will still move out faster than a stock engine on 12:1s, and...

Re: 67cc big bore for nq50 ??

Greetings: I believe I understand the position BrodyMartin73 is in; You have the Spree, with a worn top end, the kit is cheap, and it'll be kinda fun to install it and experiment. Chances are that the displacement bump will provide a welcome increase in power if you can get it to work and last. A co...

Re: 85 spree 49cc no fuel bad petcock ?

Greetings: Gumming up depends on the scooter's history. The Aero that a friend sold me to go down this Path of Madness in 2008 was purchased at an estate auction. Apparently it was in a shed from the early 1990s until then. The full tank of gasoline had over the Eons boiled down to a 1/2" thick she...

Re: Best Gears to run in a AF/16 Dio

Greetings: Stock or Sport iron cylinder without other mods do just fine on 9.1:1 gears, and can hit 50 on stock cylinder - OK Downwind. Polini or Malossi iron can huck up to 55 or more- at least Flash 9 can. If you opt for Corsa, MHR or Fabrizi, you can use 8:1 or taller, depending on carb & pipe.

Re: New spree owner What and Where Tires

Greetings:

Lots and lots of websites sell tires, some with free shipping. FROM READING ONLY, a 2.75 should fit and be a nice upgrade adding a bit more Cush to the 2" of undamped front suspension travel. For example, here.
