Stolen 87 Spree
My uncle's 87 Spree got stolen from his shed the other day. The police are involved, but being such a small vehicle, chance are that it's not going to be recovered. It's the same scooter from my signature that I learned to ride on, so that kind of * me off. Here are some details. Red plastics with w...

I have the 87 Elite 50 air box if you want to make sure it's the right one.

Re: My crappy day working on a scooter...
Wheelman, I tried everything to get that stupid thing out. If we ever wanted to get it working again, I'd probably have to drill a series of holes in the cam shaft and totally destroy it to get it out. It was really in there. I have no idea how steel rusts to aluminum, but it happened here. My uncle...

Re: My crappy day working on a scooter...
I appreciate the offer, but we have the kick start. I was saying that if we put a battery in it, it'll just get killed right away.

My crappy day working on a scooter...
First off, sorry but I didn't take pictures. My camera broke. Anyway, my uncle purchased a used non-running 1987 Honda SE50P Elite from someone, wanting to replace his Spree in the trailer. Being a scooter buff, he tossed me the keys and told me to get it running. So I checked the gas tank and... To...

Just threw a kicker on the Spree. :-)
Got a kick start cover and assembly for a reasonable price, so I put it on today. Let me know if this doesn't work, I'm posting the link via my cellphone...

Re: NQ50 eating belts...
Thanks for the suggestions, I figured it out. The front pulley was the issue. The aluminum half, more specifically. The washer somehow heat-seized itself to the crankshaft and started shaving aluminum everywhere from the outside of the pulley. It wasn't visible before because it was all covered in b...

NQ50 eating belts...
Hi guys, So when I first bought my Spree the guy I bought it from had the belt replaced, and about 6 months later I put in an AX24 belt because it stretched and was slipping. Not even 50 miles later, my Spree starts knocking again. (Same symptom I had previously with the old bad belt, when I replace...

Re: NEED SOMEONE SMART Need help honda spree wont start !!!
Okay, you said that even when the bowl is full, it won't start? check the vacuum line going to the petcock. Make sure it's attached and not cracked or broken off. Suck on the tube for a few seconds and see if you get fuel flowing through the filter then. Take the air filter off and crank it with you...

Front Fork Ball Bearings
Hi all, So a few months ago, I took my Spree apart to paint it. I removed the front forks and did not know that the bearings were not self-encased, and the balls were just loose. I think I may have lost a few of them, because while taking it for a top speed run, I noticed that the scooter was partic...

Re: I think I need a new belt...
Did you try taking a little sandpaper to the clutch pads and clutch bell and spray them down with brake clean? Just sometimes need to take the glaze off of everything. The ax24 belt changes the gearing up a little so any little glaze on the clutch pads and bell can cause some chatter. Sent from my ...

Re: 1985 Honda spree giving me hassle
Greetings: I defer to my more-experienced colleague. Still if it isn't seated correctly, it might explain the non-engagement issue? It's come up several times that a cover screwed down sans gasket causes the Bendix to bind. This may be true, however I don't think the Sprees had a gasket on the belt...
