Re: Spree De-Restrict Questions

@patthesoundguy

So essentially... Find a cheap 87 parts bike. Thanks for the info, that will come in handy. If I can find a parts bike, I think I could * possibly* rebuild the motor, then just swap that into my 85, then swap over the head etc.

Spree De-Restrict Questions

Mmkay... So I was speaking with a user on YouTube (TonyFizzle on YT, don't know his HS.Net account name) who used to have two Sprees. He said that he drilled out the last baffle in the muffler, installed a K&N filter, and up-jetted his 87 Spree. That got him to 40 MPH. SO I was thinking about do...

Re: My First Spree Swap (Aero NH125)

Nice thread, I enjoyed reading about your motor swap. I thought for a while about doing a Honda GX200/GX200 clone motor swap with a centrifugal clutch and chain drive (no transmission problems) but realized that would take more work than it was worth, not to mention it probably wouldn't come close t...

***NEW TAX*** Cook County IL "Non-Retailer Use" tax

Okay. As some of you know, in June I purchased my first scooter, a 1985 Spree. Just this week, November 7, I get a letter from the Cook County Department of Revenue. Basically, it's a gigantic load of bull sh*t. Apparently, when you buy or inherit a used vehicle from anyone else other than a license...

Re: IL scooter laws...

Well seeing that IL is the most corrupt state in America....UM NO! Don't even think of riding that scoot without a plate,insurance,"M" or "L" class license unless you want a ticket for everything and a $500 impound fee+tow and look like a complete criminal for trying to have fun...

IL scooter laws...

Okay, I need to pick someone's brain for a few minutes. I know in Georgia, you can ride (I think) a 50cc scooter or less? with tags, on your learner's permit at 15. I've tried looking this up online, but as usual, the DMV is a pain in the *. Does anyone know if this would be legal in IL? It would be...

Re: Knock knock, who's there?

Greetings: Anything from a loose heat shield to a bad connecting rod bearing. Check it by removing parts and looking what's underneath. Thank you. I was cleaning things on the scooter yesterday, and it seemed to start only after the engine had warmed up for a while. However I will check the heat sh...

Knock knock, who's there?

I have this weird knocking coming from the piston... What do you think it is, and how do I check it?

Re: Waving

Sometimes I wave at bikers and scooters, but never at cars when I'm on my dad's Kymco. (I can't legally ride my honda yet) Every once in a while, there's some *hole that calls you a * for riding a scooter, they get a one-fingered salute. :twisted: Then there's the ones that get too close to you at a...
