Re: 1985 Honda spree giving me hassle
Hi, Your bendix assembly sounds like it's binding. If there was a good amount of belt dust in the cover, there could be some junk in the bendix. Use an air compressor to blow out the bendix. Expand it by hand, try and hit every spot you can. You can also try dropping a little oil onto the shaft by t...

Re: 1985 Honda spree giving me hassle
Greetings: Then I suggest you take off the belt/front pulley and get an eye down there to see if there's some crud keeping the Pinion (Bendix) assembly from seating properly. The Bendix slides in AFTER the front pulley assembly is completed - at least on Elites it does. Check the cover too. Also, t...

Re: I think I need a new belt...
Allright... I finally got the AX24 belt on there and I can say that it solved a lot of my problems. :ndance: First up is top speed is back to around 32 ish. I had a loud low speed exhaust noise when I bought it, now that's gone. (Weird, right? It's just a belt) And pickup is greatly recovered. Now, ...

Re: Spree Exhaust Question
Greetings: Yeah, 40 with "no other mods" seems unlikely. I've never owned a Spree, but members I trust say they're happy to bust 35 with a LOT of other mods. Here's the YouTube video. He had to audioswap the video due to a song, but before that you could hear the engine, that I can vouch ...

Re: Spree Exhaust Question
Greetings If you drill out the rear baffle, the only thing you need to change is your mind. :) Y'see, Honda-san's Infinite and Infallible wisdom led to the Spree's fine balance of pressure waves and flow velocities. Rude drilling of a hole in his fine work might gain the attention of the Faire Maid...

Spree Exhaust Question
Hi,
So I've got an 85 Spree... If I drill out the rear baffle in the exhaust, should I need to change the jetting in the carb?
Thanks
Nick

Re: Fuel additives for cleaning engine
Every year I add 1/4 can of SeaFoam to the tank with a fresh tank of gas every summer. That helps clear it out, but not greatly. It' just a personal thing, I think it helps more with cleaning the fuel system. That's mostly why I do it.

Rebuilding my spree engine questions...
Okay, so my spree still runs a little finicky. I've decided that I'm going to just go through the engine to rule that out. The scooter has been sitting in some guy's garage for about 20 years, so the crank seals might be a little dried out. I know that I definitely need a bystarter, but when I spray...

Re: Duosport's Honda Spree repair thread.
Okay, I got some advice for you to try and get your fuel gauge working again. First thing to check is the float in the fuel tank. Make sure it's not stuck and make sure there isn't a hole in the float. Check the wiring connections, and I think there's even something in the service manual about check...

Re: I think I need a new belt...
Yup there is a such a belt you are looking for. Part number AX24 a standard cogged belt that is wider than the original to restore top end speed to original and a little more added. If you have trouble finding one I have found a supplier for them and can get them easily. Is the belt cogged on it no...

Anyone good with picture editing?
I want to change my avatar to a picture of my personal Spree, but when I go to upload the pic, I get an error message because the file is too big. Anyone know how to reduce the size of the file?

So, I fired up my Spree two days ago and pulled her outta the shed along with my dad's Kymco. Threw the snow-blower in the shed, rode the Kymco to the garage. Walked back and got on the spree... Revved it full throttle and... She don't move. It tries, but needs a push start. Got it on the pavement a...
