Do not drill and tap a hole in the case. I would take the oil pump off and drain from there.

I am guessing the oil pump is leaking. I would run it until all the oil sitting in the crankcase is burnt up.

What type of elite? larger wheel or tire? or both?

I am not planing on painting the pipe, it looks to be clear coated from the factory. If it starts looking rusty I might re-coat it.

4 heat cycles in, might take it for a ride tomorrow. Next step in a met front stem, wheels and a disc setup.
