Re: Any possibility of "bad" carb causing overheating?
Runs well just heats up at higher rpm/throttle. This is me just throwing out a wild guess but maybe you have increased friction somewhere like gearbox or tranny. If you have messed with jetting and it isn't changing anything than maybe its not air or fuel mixture problems. Maybe it is load problems....

Re: Summer Build: '96 SA50
57 was with 9g weights and less than 150 miles on the bore. Maybe it was leaning out and gaining power? I will put the tach back on it today and check the rest of the week. I live by a 3 mile straight level stretch of highway so its ideal for max speed runs Edit: Just hit 55 today with 3 6gs and 3 9...

Re: 72cc Stock Setup Concerns
Would getting a new carb even benefit me at all with the stock exhaust still? I know tuning and everything would be easier as well as more air and fuel flow. Doesn't the muffler limit me here. I do not want to spend that much more yet, or any, this is just more for future purchases. Will probably me...

Re: Summer Build: '96 SA50
So I am back with a great running moped. Max temps are like 370 going up a hill after a long wot run so its doing fine. However, my max speed took a hit from when i was running red hot. I am guessing that is because it was super lean but my max speed before was 57 and now i am lucky to hit 51.

Re: Stock SA50 Muffler Issues
Problem Solved. Tapped for 3/8" hardened bolt. Hole goes all the way through so it should be easy to drill out if it shears off. I bought like 3 3/8" bolts just in case. Used a 30mm M6 bolt, a M6 washer and M6 lock nut for the exhaust flange. Threaded the bolt through like and tigthened on...

Re: Honda 1988 SA50 sticky throttle
Id have to agree with Big on this one. A lean idle mixture can cause it to hang and not drop down. Simply set up the A/F screw correctly and it should go away. If the problem still persists try turning the A/F a quarter turn in from the highest RPM idle. A bit rich on the idle won't hurt your scoot ...

Stock SA50 Muffler Issues
3 parts to this problem I am having. 1) The upper mounting bolt for the exhaust on the frame is useless. The threads on the frame actually snapped off. so there is no metal behind the bolt location on the muffler. This means that the bottom bolt has to do twice the holding of the muffler. It has cau...

Re: 72cc Stock Setup Concerns
I sprayed the copper gasket stuff on my gasket and also think I found my problem. One of my exhaust studs wasn't screwed in far enough so the nut ran out of thread when tightening the exhaust. There was a small gap and I could see a little residue on the exhaust flange. Hopefully fixing that and the...

Re: 72cc Stock Setup Concerns
so it sounds like we have air leaks. What are other possibilities of high temps? could it be unusually high compression? For the air leak, seeing as i dont want to spend $30 to buy the parts just to test if i have an air leak, what should I all do when i take the engine apart and put it back togethe...

Re: 72cc Stock Setup Concerns
Well i rode it around today and I still have an air leak, but a small manageable one. I went wot for 4 miles and the temps were fine 370 max. But I know i have an air leak because if it hits 370, under half throttle after long wot or wot up a hill for a long time, then they climb and reach 380 and m...

Re: 72cc Stock Setup Concerns
I am seeing lower temps after break-in. Took the motor apart after around 100 miles. Now have around 400 miles on the motor. Temps continually dropped to about 350 miles to where now 370 is my max spike with the half throttle problem I have. I think the new bores overheat easy but I also had an air ...
