Re: Project: Gyro

Zip is 71854 but I need to wait until I done going over everything before I start having parts being sent/buying parts. I figured out today that I need a long primary throttle cable (the one between the throttle and splitter box). It's broken off at the end in the splitter box. The carb and oil pump...

Re: Project: Gyro

The carb is all crusty with white powder of some kind. I only pulled this out and sprayed in some WD40 for now to help get it soaking.

Re: Project: Gyro

Have a pic of it? Lemmie know how much. I'm really not going for showroom restore to resell, just restore well to be usable. I haven't gotten to the fuel tank yet but I might do so in the next day or two. I need to get some marbles for rolling around in there to help clean it up. I've been working o...

Re: 87 NQ50 oil pump question

A 2 stroke will run on gas without oil....for a short time before seizing. If you aren't sure if the oil pump is working, premix. At least until you confirm the oil pump is working. You're better off over oiled than under oiled. Yeah it will smoke a ton but you can shut it off and drain the fuel tan...

Project: Gyro

That sounds like a weird sci-fi movie title, huh? Hello everyone, I'm back! It's been quite some time since I sold my Spree (7-8 years!) and I went through and sold a couple other scooters since then. (sig freshly updated) Today I got this for all of $120. Sorry for the blurry pics, I was too excite...

Re: Engine number and titling issue

When i got super cheap ($227/yr) full coverage+roadside insurance with Progressive, the rules say to have color photos of both sides of the bike AND a photo of the VIN number on the frame in case of any future claims. They say nothing about the engine VIN.

Re: Forum for larger elites

The Yahoo group kind of stinks. It took 3 or 4 days for my post to show up. Plus I'm not real fond of the archive/interface that Yahoo has now. It's very hard to navigate. Oh, and for $1.28 for the first year, I ended up registering a more "respectable" domain for it: HondaEliteForum.com T...

Re: Waving

I will depending on how comfortable I feel removing my hand from the handlebar. If the wind and road are rough, I'm not going to risk a crash to wave at someone. Sometimes I do a half-wave, keep my palm on the edge of the grip and extend out my fingers. Whether or not they can see it, I don't know. ...

Re: Golden Gyro Project

Gotta wonder what's wrong with people who like to randomly cut wires. Yeah it makes you wonder if there was a reason. Most of the time a cut wire isn't just done precariously, it may serve a purpose and until you are sure it was not done to save the bike from burning down do not just re connect it....

Re: Forum for larger elites

Great news for Elite owners...welcome here too. Helix would be a logical inclusion on your board as well... :imo: No. There is a very active, well established Helix forum. I refer helix owners to it in the same way I do Elite 50 owners to here. It looks like a board but it sends them to the other s...

Re: Forum for larger elites

I'm still working on it slowly, tweaking settings, adding extra boards, scooter avatars to pick from, etc.

Forum for larger elites

Hey guys. I sold my Spree a couple years ago but I'm still around the scooter scene. I bought myself an Elite 250 a few days ago and as typical, I started a forum for it and other Elites (80-250) since there weren't really any around besides a Yahoo group. However, I'm not trying to take away ANY tr...

Re: Trying to get Spree running again after long sitting

Gotta love a Honda. :coolcruise: I cleaned the carb, petcock and drained the old gas from the tank, but it seems the battery is my problem now/too. I ended up putting my lil jumper cables on to my helix's battery and tried cranking it, after about 2 tries I got it going. I had forgotten how fast tha...
