Greetings: The key from you other Spree will likely fit in the slot but I doubt it will turn the switch. If you bring in the ignition switch, a locksmith can make a key that will turn it. The bike's ignition switch does the same thing as the light switch in your home. It connects or disconnects two ...

It's In Your Manual
Greetings:
The Aero 50 manual says BPR-6HS OR-HSA. I'll go out on a limb here and say either one is OK for a stock mill. The wrong plug can cause a lot of trouble but Soichiro Honda himself approved both.

AERO '87 Carb Cleaning: Mini-Beast
Greetings: This process is ongoing in tandem with the Petrified Aero Tank. The carb contained the same stuff as in the tank, only less of it and much much harder. I call it Mini-Beast . I set the disassembled carb to soaking in a $50. bucket of NAPA Carb Cleaner - the kind with the little bask...

The semi-transparent orange-y one appears to be the float bowl drain. Confirm by unscrewing the brass screw adjacent the hose a turn or two and see if gasoline flows out - presuming there's fuel in the system. I can't quite see where the black one goes from your photos, but maybe someone knows this ...

Greetings: KTAero50 says: "I sprayed some liquid wrench on it and put some serious effort into it with a wrench, but it wouldn't even begin to move. " Ah, the stuck fastener. The Great Gumption-Buster. How can you get started with repair when you can't even begin disassembly? In my experie...

Greetings: Mechanical work teaches us a lot about life. It can be fun if the outcome does not matter. It becomes stressful when it does. If you have tools and time, start pulling stuff off. If your goal is to make it run, may I suggest you start with the important stuff? Your first problem will prob...

Greetings, RCD: The S is far from pristine, although due to child-rearing its mileage is no longer increasing as rapidly. ~15K on its clock and a lovely patina from living near Corpus Christi Bay. Good ideas on the tank issue. However the saddle bolts to the stock tank, so it's kind of integral to t...

1987 Aero Petrified Tank Saga
Greetings: This bike sat untouched for seven years in South Texas heat. For those of you who've never been here, a typical daily garage temp is ~110 degrees F. At least it wasn't in the sun. But the fuel system - all of it - congealed into its own ecosystem. There was a half-inch thick coating of ve...
