Re: My 2002 Derbi GP1 Scooter Project
Greetings: I think you may be right about "got too hot"! Yikes! I don't see the o-ring grooves in the new cylinder or the head. Is the O-ring just compressed by the flat surfaces, or are there ring channels I can't make out in the pics? The outside top of the new head appears to be a bett...

Re: My 2002 Derbi GP1 Scooter Project
Got the new top end kit, it's a cheap one off ebay. I think the old top end is a brand called airsal, it's a aluminum jug and the new one is cast iron. http://i766.photobucket.com/albums/xx310/Rabbitfcker/Derbi%20GP1/DSC06946.jpg http://i766.photobucket.com/albums/xx310/Rabbitfcker/Derbi%20GP1/DSC06...

Re: My 2002 Derbi GP1 Scooter Project
The exact reason why it blew is unknown, looking at the old piston I'm guessing it was running lean and got too hot. This derbi also has a aftermarket exhaust pipe and little bigger carb. I'm thinking the previous owner took off the stock airbox and installed a high flow filter without re jetting. I...

Re: My 2002 Derbi GP1 Scooter Project
I noticed some shards of metal in the case from the blown top end. I decided to flush it with brake cleaner and premix then suck it out, repeated that a dozen times. http://i766.photobucket.com/albums/xx310/Rabbitfcker/Derbi%20GP1/DSC06962.jpg http://i766.photobucket.com/albums/xx310/Rabbitfcker/Der...

My 2002 Derbi GP1 Scooter Project
I bought this Derbi Gp1 that had a blown engine, I drove up to Seattle to pick it up. I've always wanted one but they rarely come up for sale, but it's kind of a gamble since it needs work. It's the first non Honda scooter I've owned and my first water cooled engine also. The previous owner claimed ...

Re: Honda Aero nb50 to nh125 Swap Project
I've been hitting over 60mph on some high speed test runs, a little scary going that fast on a aero 50. I thought I'd be hitting mid 60's but my pipe might be limiting performance or this old nh125 is a little tired. But it does accelerate off the line very well and that's what really matters when t...

Re: Honda Aero nb50 to nh125 Swap Project
My friends in Atlanta can clue you into the Derbi scene. https://www.doscycles.com/ Now, create a thread for this new venture... LOVE the rally stripes. :urban: Thanks Mike, I was thinking about starting a build thread for the Derbi but I'm not sure how all the honda-heads would feel about i...

Re: Honda Aero nb50 to nh125 Swap Project
I know nothing about the Derbi's but heres one for fairly cheap. Maybe the GP-1 is the better model? https://spokane.craigslist.org/mcy/6183353137.html I'm still learning about derbi scooters as I go, my gp1 is water cooled and I believe that craigslist one is air cooled. Still looks like an okay d...

Re: Honda Aero nb50 to nh125 Swap Project
Here's the newest project, a derbi gp1. I have all the body panels, just waiting on a new 70cc top end to be shipped here from the UK. People make a lot of claims about how fast these derbi scooters are, It's the first non honda scooter I've ever owned. http://i766.photobucket.com/albums/xx310/Rabbi...

Re: Honda Aero nb50 to nh125 Swap Project
I don't think so, it does sound fun though. I hope to make it to some local Portland rides this summer.Meatball wrote:Will I be seeing that baby at the Ferry ride this year?
