Re: Af16 Assistance / Build

I have a sanding stone kit that I can probably run over them with and be careful not to drop slurry in . I sort of figured the hondabond would take care of those. TBH they dont seem to be any more scarred than the factory ridges on the case halves, I suppose i could also force the hondabond across w...

Re: Af16 Assistance / Build

Update Time: I plan on making some youtube videos of the case coming apart and subsequently going back together, but I need some time to learn and sit down so hopefully it gets cold and gross out soon. I made some hyperlapse videos because its easy so here you go on that one. Just me scrubbing mr cr...

Re: 1985 "Trash Aero" project

Pulled ole trash boi out for some work yesterday. Took the back half apart for cleaning and to clean up a rusty spot where battery acid ate up the frame a bit. Its sitll solid, just dont want the rust to get worse. Not sure if I want to put the AF16 on here or pull the AF05 on the white scoot and us...

Re: 85 aero 50 crank differences?

I wanted to follow up on this cause I was looking at stock cranks and the parts apparently are showing crossreferencing as being compatible. IIRC someone said the woodruff key is a different size but I could be wrong.

Re: Af16 Assistance / Build

I started the full tear down today, but was stopped short due to wrong size flywheel puller. I tried to use my case puller but shes too strong! I may do some youtube videos to show how this is all done since its taken me a while to get my peanut brain around it. I didnt get close ups cause i figured...

Re: 1986 Aero 50 Bar Seat Lock Substitution?

Hey guys, new to scoots. My 86 Aero 50 is missing the bar under the seat that goes into the latch, part number 77102-GC8-300 BAR, SEAT LOCK I can't find this thing anywhere except overseas in Europe. Does anyone know if there is a bar off a different scooter or bike that will fit? Otherwise I'll ha...

Re: Af16 Assistance / Build

Update: I went to go clean up the engine and double check the crank before installing the contessa I ordered earlier that day. I looked at the magneto side and it looks completely dry and healthy. The variator side has been leaking for some time. Its a mess in the crank cover. https://i.imgur.com/h5...

Re: Af16 Assistance / Build

Greetings: Polini contessa is a good kit. No need for gears shorter than 9:1, even a stock 50cc can pull those over 45MPH. Mine with stock carb And exhaust will do 50 upwind all day. Welcome to the madness. BTW sometimes seals fail because they are old. Sometimes it is a bad bearing or wobbly crank...

Af16 Assistance / Build

I want to do a mild build on an AF16 that I picked up this summer. It currently runs, but there is a leak from mr crank seal. I have a new one ready to press in. Cant see anything leaking on the stator side. The thing is just a turd though. I bought an NCY / V8 style pipe for it and it did nothing g...

Re: Red 85 Aero "build"?

90 seems lean for sure at WOT. I think the needle is second from the bottom, but I can see about making it richer. I bought an idle jet from TAZ and it seems to work better. I cant remember if it was 40 or 42 but I think 40. Either way she cools down well at idle. Only when WOT with the 90 does it g...

Re: Red 85 Aero "build"?

Update here also, the pipe fits with the panels on, needed a little cutting back by the turn signal but really minimal considering. I put some miles on it this weekend and last. I tried 92 jet and that runs cool as a cucumber, but doesnt quite get on the pipe all the way. Tried running a 90 when the...
