The Green and Black/white-stripe connection is closed when the ignition switch is off. That is what turns off the engine.

The other two wires are Red (Battery +12) to Black (Switched +12)

Those are nice -

Wikepedia says there is an upated version still being produced - 50 years and 60million Cubs later!

Also, they give a gas milage figure for the 50cc model --
146 km/L (410 mpg imp/340 mpg US) (30km/h fixed area travelling test value)

Re: No RACE - There is a terminology correction here. The bearing cups are the outer race, cone on the fork and at top of the headset form the inner race.

No retainer, just loose balls packed in grease.
---
If the cones or cups are pitted consider changing them out too.

One dollar a ball - that's expensive! Parts callout is a std ball bearing size. Take one with you to a good hardware store, bike shop or online. You should replace the entire set. 6211-05000 BALL, STEEL (#5) (5/32) (Honda Code 0058917) Here is a link to a cycle shop with 5/32 bearings - 75 for $4.95...

Manual says not to take it apart. If yours is bent, then get a replacement. In my case, there was grit (last owner had an air filter failure) in the reed preventing seating. The grit was towards the end with the bolts, and would not flush out when sprayed with carb cleaner while flexing the read. Ta...

Yeah, it doesn't take much gap on the reed, should be no light.
Last used scooter I got was not running, it had under 1/32 gap and is caused no start, not even a pop with starter fluid.

Spree manual says the keystoned ring goes on top. There's a note that the top ring can also be identified by its chrome plate on the outer surface, so your silver one's the top.

The lower ring goes over the octagonal expander.

The mechanical speedometer has a very loose magnetic coupling to the dial needle, with the cable driving the magnet side. The needle has a low force coiled torsion spring to return it to zero. As your speed goes up, there is a fairly linear increase in torque, just enough to overcome the spring forc...

To go along with your comment that you think there is plenty if not too much oil - Pull the plug, is it getting coated with oil? Now crank with the plug out. Watch for oil spit out the plug hole. A bad oil pump can leak into the crankcase. If yours leaked a over the 5 years it could be full of oil.

Hi,
If that's an 86/87 Aero 50 starter, I think it will fit and work. But double check the direction of rotation and pinion tooth count. I've had one of each but only as parts starters.

The flasher is load sensitive. Like you have found, if there is no battery, the battery is low on change or wead. (can't turn over engine, or turn signals light but dim) the flasher is stuck with the lights on. If you have a bad bulb, connection or ground to a turnsignal, the flasher reacts the same...

PimpinSpree, PM sent - Sure I'd be happy to trade a flasher for your bad reg. To rest following the thread: Reversed polarity battery connection can take out the fuse, regulator and even the stator. Be careful when replacing your battery and jump starting, the cost of a mistake is more expensive tha...

pohaku, Hi, welcome! -- my first Honda was just like yours, it had sat for 10 years. Kenny's advice is very good, only thing I can add for an extended rest - is check the airfilter. Mine just crumbled to dust when touched. Also, once it starts check out everything electrical, left/right turn signals...
