Gasket Softener
Greetings: As with many things, time is a key factor. Solvents need time to work. Often several applications are necessary. If you don't time/patience, gasket remover doesn't help much. If you do, it makes the removal job considerably easier, AND less risky to critical true surfaces. Consider the da...

Gear Learning; Gearning
Greetings: Here's what I know so far. My particular version of Malossi part 67-6458 shown in the first post IS intended to fit SE50. In ChevyGuyJay's thread, the largest Axle gear and the small Countershaft (2B) gear are replaced with a different pair. (He had to obtain an SA50/Dio Axle to install t...

Honda dealers can be an unexpectedly cheap source for a lot of these parts, sometimes.not all partspersons know their stuff, but a good one can be very helpful.

2 Types of Scooter Riders
Greetings: I agree: Type 1. Those who dust off that old platitude and trot it out at every opportunity, and Type "B". Those who know it's complete BS. My old uncle George was born in 1904. He grew up on Harley-Davidsons and Indians. Never dropped one. Not once. He died of lung cancer 25 ye...

Back Plate, Grease Plate
Greetings: When you remove your stock variator, you may see a chrome cup-shaped cap held on with three 7mm screws. Call it the Grease cap. It comes off with difficulty because it's a very snug fit and there's a thin 0-ring between the vari and the cap. You do need to remove that cap, because you nee...

Welding Shop Class
Greetings: BT you got me thinkin'. Spousal Unit Shred-Betty would tell you nothing good can come of that... :) Carbon sheet awaits at the apartment for transformation into a substitute for the stock steel reeds. I may try to open up the snorkel a bit more while it's off the bike, too. With Polini et...

I just noticed the Historical Vehicle tag on your 80-ish El Camino. Greatest Scooter hauler ever!

Welding
Greetings: BT offers: with a custom fit exhaust you should net 50mph. Can try what Dac suggested and weld up moped chamber to stock downtube and make brackets, wouldn't be too hard. Evidently you've never seen me with a welder. "Honey, have you seen the fire extinguisher?". I'm actually th...

Breaking In
Greetings: You do realize the term "Break-In" is just an expression, don't you? :) Glad you and Spree will be OK. I ride a pedal bike about 100 miles/week when Daylight Wasting Time isn't in effect. Being slow is definitely a risk. Lots of passing cars, each one creates a Contact Opportuni...

That said, I like the bike. Looks like there's enough room under the tank to fit a spare Dio engine!.
