Re: Spree leaking gas!
You didn't say where it's draining from exactly. the carb overflow hose?

Re: 1987 Honda Spree Electrical Brake Light
Is the bulb dual element? If so, maybe the brake element is bad.

Gyro RH crankshaft bearing
The Honda RH crankshaft bearing is NLA and I can't even find NOS on ebay:
BEARING, RADIAL BALL (16004) (KOYO)
(old #) 91005-GM8-004
(new #) 91005-GM8-003
I have seen posts where people say it's not a standard 16004 bearing. Any truth to that?

Re: Honda Gyro Starters
Interesting. The cheap SA50 starter I bought appears to have the area for the seal. There is a space between the bearing and further out lip..

Re: Spree leaking gas!
Did you put the float/needle valve back in right? Maybe it fell apart during assembly inside the bowl. Also make sure some dirt didn't somehow get back in the jet/needle valve causing it to stay open.

Re: Honda Gyro Starters
3) Probably best to add the oil seal to output shaft. Only NN50 and TG50 starters had shaft oil seals.
Ok, so based on that snipped of your pics above and what said, you CAN add the seal, right? Unless cheap aftermarket motors don't have the space.

Re: Honda Gyro Starters
Hmm, how do you get the armature out? I might have further ruined the old starter, if that's even possible given it's condition to begin with. I couldn't get the internal screws to turn for anything so i cut off the heads thinking it would give me a shaft to grab with vise grips... nope. I'll have t...

Re: Honda Gyro Starters
Where does the seal go? I can't seem to find any pics of how these come apart/go together. The mounting plate of the Gyro starter is machined to seat both the bearing and the oil seal. You can see the distinct steps in the plate for each component. The oil seal is installed such that the garter spr...

Re: Honda Gyro Starters
Issue: No starter at all 1) Take your pick of 1985-87 NB50 Aero starter or 1988-93 SA50 2) Rotate the can on re-assembly by 180 degrees to reverse the CCW rotation to CW for the Gyro 3) Probably best to add the oil seal to output shaft. Only NN50 and TG50 starters had shaft oil seals. 4) NN50 only:...

Re: Project: Gyro
also, on the top of engine by the carb and the oil pump, theres a breather port. its a brass nipple sticking up. if it was submerged in water. that's where the water got inside at. Ahhh, the transmission breather. I saw that black hose it has for that. That makes sense... I guess. Weird that so man...

Re: Project: Gyro
Well that sucks. I had the starter almost working, after getting it unseized. but then one of the magnets came unglued. Now the thing won't go back together. I spent at least 2 hours messing with it. I give up. It's trashed. That's probably the most expensive part on these things too. $100 for an as...

Re: Project: Gyro
I am fearing that the stator/magneto is gonna be ruined. The guy did say it was laying on it's side and I think it was on it's left side. Maybe it was submerged in water/mud on that side, hence why that side's drum was so bad off and the air cooling area is full of (now dry) dirt. The starter may al...

Re: Project: Gyro
Yikes!!! It has clumps of mud in the bottom transmission case. What did somebody to do this thing?! Through a mishap/misunderstanding of the "parking rod", I bent it. I mean, they are a common, easy to get part that usually doesn't get damaged, so it's replaceable. Considering how stuck ev...

Re: Project: Gyro
Oh, some more pics I took today. The inside of the left side wheel... pretty nasty. It's gonna take a lot to smooth that out. The original Dunlop tube was in it and still has some air in it. 20200601_141141sm.jpg The speedometer has some water/moisture inside. We just had a CRAPTON of rain for like ...

Re: Project: Gyro
The main thing I need to look into next, after getting the right side wheel/drum off so that the wheel can (hopefully) turn, is that external parking arm. Maybe some idiot put the arm back on wrong when trying to "fix" it like they did the tilt lock, and it can't move because it's oriented...
