CaptDan, Ok, new petcock should do it, just want to follow up with this note: When the float needle is seeping a little, it might not look bad to the naked eye. I couldn't see the pitting by eye, fingernail test or 2x magnifier. I put it under a microscope, because I'd cleaned the carb multiple time...

Good idea to get a working petcock valve in the tank, that will probably fix the immediate trouble and a potential fire safety item.

But, if your float valve is is good shape, it would hold off the fuel even with the petcock open. Probably a good idea to replace the float valve too.

Bear,
Yeah, I'm just trying to rationalize why Honda chose the path they did, when you basically showed there's a better path. IDK if the oil pump can hold off the gas or not, it's just a what if scenario....

Do the outboard oil pumps have any reverse flow check valves built in?

Sounds good from the distribution end just like you say. What do you think about from the failure side? - Failure condition: Leaking petcock valve, oil tank level lower than level of gas tank. Could (over time) gas force a reverse flow up the oil tube & though the pump? That would create a starv...

Sure deserves to be in a museum. Lookie all that chrome, glass and shaped metal. Never seen a scooter with an adjustable tinted windshield. Honda must have wanted that Juno to be a flagship.

It's not so much that the bystarter is non-functional, in fact with the missing needle, it is closer to always being in the enrichen mode. However, to compensate for this once your scooter warms up, you may end up turning in your idle mixture screw. That would lean out the cold engine performance a ...

1) High Current Draw? I know you checked out the starter, but its sounding like a big drain on your new and old battery when cranking. A shored coil in the starter can do that and the starter still turns, but not vary fast. If your engine has a problem that would heavily load the starter while crank...

Bear45-70 has this one pretty well covered. I can only add some troubleshooting detail. 1) Clivester had a tip awhile back - you can test the starter relay with a screwdriver across the switched contacts. If it cranks correctly, then you know the relay is bad. Mousewheels comment: You actually don't...

Tough break - no pun intended. Kind of cool in its own way, that your ring went out the exhaust with little other damage vs some other worst case scenario. But that broken head bolt is no fun... Spend some time and think about your next step, The way your bolt got tight on the *way in* then froze wi...
