Re: New build idea

If you do it, try to incorporate suspension into your build, if you ever have ridden a minibike, you will know why I say this. Also try to incorporate a front wheel brake.
Be sure to post pictures of the build if you choose to attempt this.

Re: Hit BOOST in an '85 spree

While I do not know for sure, my guess is that the fuel mixture leaned out, usually the lean out is followed by engine seizure.

Re: 1987 NQ50 Running Issues

The more I read your description, the more I think it acts like air intake issues. Sprees are unbelievably sensitive to having a perfectly stock air cleaner system.

Re: 1987 NQ50 Running Issues

It does sound like you have done your homework and made educated attempts at repairs. I have a couple of thoughts I would like to share. One Spree I had had a shudder/vibration on take off ( low speed only) and I simply sanded the clutch shoes and bell with coarse sandpaper, instantly the problem wa...

Re: DIY tubless tire conversion

Glad you're okay and the scooter didnt get wrecked. Sorry I dont want to hijack your thread, but this is sort of related, has anyone used the small pressurized cannisters for flat tire repair ? I see the dirt bike guys carry them, but I dont know anyone who has used them. Do they hold enough to blow...

Re: DIY tubless tire conversion

The bead retention bump is on the tubeless rim to save your life in case of a flat.
I agree that flats rarely occur, but they do happen.

Re: Gyro - general thread

Diplomacy opens doors and allows me to accomplish my goals. Both Gyros turned out show quality and run great, mission accomplished. Bill and I got along just fine, he even gave me a free part that I could not locate anywhere at any price. But yes, I did include that advice for a reason. The reason i...

Re: Gyro - general thread

niemannbill13@yahoo.com he used to advertise on Moped Army website and used to sell on Ebay. I cannot locate his business card, but I think he is in Missouri . He is a nice guy and very helpful, but before you dispute his prices please remember he is pretty much the only source for parts, so don't m...

Honda 50cc Motocompo information wanted.

Honda produced the Motocompo from 81-83, they were a suitcase scooter that folded up. They were not exported to USA, but many people bought and brought them here. The Motocompo could be folded up and would fit into a cavity in the trunk of the Honda City car, another model not exported to the USA. M...

Re: Gyro - general thread

jcivince Dont take the engine apart until you have located gaskets, they are a challenge. The later Spree piston can be used, but Honda OEM pistons are getting a little hard to find, try CMSNL Netherlands for parts, Metric Motorsports in Muskegon can bore the cylinder to match your new oversize pist...

If you scuff up the clutch shoes and clutch bell with some coarse sand paper, it will probably be acceptable.

Re: Update and questions to engine number and titling issue

The VIN sticker is on the frame down tube behind front tire best viewed from right side. The frame serial number is stamped into a frame plate on the left side under floor. Should be a higher number than HF010-DS000001 The engine number is stamped on a flat pad of the engine case, near the rear whee...
