Spree won't idle
Ok guys, I can't get this one. I've fixed over a dozen Sprees and this one has been a challenge. It won't idle. I've tried all the stuff: new air filter and tight air box connections, 3 spark plugs, 2 different carbs that were cleaned 3 times, new o rings on carb insulator, new crank seals, new o ri...

Re: Replacement Key
You need a 8mm and a 10mm socket. Remove rear rack (4 nuts).Remove plastic side covers (1 nut, 1 bolt, and 2 plastic clips in back).Remove the 4 bolts that hold the floor panel on. Then 1 bolt on the leg shield and carefully pull up the bottom of leg shield and disconnect the wires. Wires are colorf...

Re: New to Spree question about air box assy
Wow!!! Great deal on the Spree!! Another nice part of using the stock air box is that you can get air filters from any Honda dealer for $3-$4.

Re: 1985 GYRO STARTER RELAY
Just got my 1986 Honda Gyro out of storage and checked the starter relay. I swapped with a Spree relay and works just fine. The only difference is that the Gyro relay is a little smaller and has a mounting tab to hold it to the frame.

Re: Spree Clutch re-lined
Clutch weight sets are available from Partzilla (about $50). I've done a few and are fairly easy but be CAREFUL when taking off the large nut that holds everything together. Sometimes you can find good used clutches on ebay that are cheaper. Good luck.

Re: Measurement on Front Forks - Possibly Bent
If you have a bent front fork, you will notice it in the handling. I've had bent forks on Sprees and an Elite 80. Usually will pull to one side.

Re: Se50p is giving me fits
I have a SE50P that would start then quit. Turned out the muffler was plugged solid. Baked out the muffler and has run perfect ever since. What is yours doing?

Re: Auto Bystarter??
We have an 86 Spree at our cabin. It is kick start. For as long as I can remember, it's only started after a small squirt of starting fluid in the carb. You can try kick started it for ever but it won't start without a small shot of ether. Once it's running, it's start on it's own all day long. Unf...

I have a Honda spree that I put new rings, piston, carb, gas tank, fuel pump and it will not start. I cannot get vacumn from the new carb ports to operate the fuel pump. What is the proper routing for the fuel pump and oil pump lines. Also the kick start lever gets stuck on the down position, how do I a...

Re: '85 Spree still doesn't want to start
After everything is thoroughly clean, and there are no air leaks, and new plug and bystarter, maybe the crank oil seals are getting a little weak. They are cheap to replace and have given me similar headaches in the past.

Re: Honda Gyro questions
It's clean now!!!! I took the guards off and put it in my outdoor wood boiler. Smoke and flame came out of both ends for awhile. When it got cherry red it was done. After it cooled, I blew out the dust, cleaned and painted it and it looks and works great!

Re: floorboard gas tank q's
Greetings: The tank cleaning chemistry is HCl, hydrochloric sometimes called muriatic. It is strong, but breaks down through dilution into harmless stuff. I pour mine out at night into mean neighbors' hot tub. Sometimes Koi pond. Sinceriously, varnish needs different solvents - hydrocarbons like mi...

Re: floorboard gas tank q's
Lots of good ideas here! I'm working on a Honda Ruckus tank with varnished gas and a little rust. Another method I've heard about is to use vinegar, then flush good with water (easy to dispose of). A question I have about using acids or other nasty chemicals is what do you do with all that liquid wh...

Re: glue for plastics on spree
plastic welding Yup, plastic welding is the way to go! I used a small soldering iron that worked well with a little patience. I finally broke down and spent $15 at HF for a plastic welder that came with reinforcing mesh and filler rods. Also bought a pack of assorted rods. Very happy with the resul...
