Re: 1985 spree BBK testing with tuned polini pipe.
I have never seen this done with an 85 spree You might have to run race gas if the compression is too high :surprise: Yeah it seems to run great, I could always just use a head gasket again if I wanter to raise compression. I hope you mean lower, because adding a head gasket will never raise compre...

Re: Here is how I ported and did a few other mods for increa
less crank case volume = better transfer of gas/oil/air mix to combustion chamber. I wonder if it could also help having more storage in the crank case for high rpm availability... but at low rpm or idle it could cause excess buildup of unburnt fuel/oil also.. Insteresting Stuffers are used all ove...

Does that have a negative effect on anything?
Cool looking plug, how much are they? I could make those for guys if needed, Im sure I can be more than competitive.

Re: 1985 spree BBK testing with tuned polini pipe.
did you mill the head to 48mm? Well I faced it to 48mm on my lathe, but when I cut the .030'' off it removed my 48mm! So I decided the leave it as is and do a clearance test, I now read .023'' of piston clearance and will leave it there. I need to get a kick start for this spree some time, the elec...

Re: Help from a seasoned vet please.
it has been a while since I built my 48mm spree. But I seem to remember the the 48 mm piston not reaching the top of the jug in the same way the stock piston does. Is the 48mm kits bore taller? or is the wrist pin/top of the piston measurement different from a stock piston. I am guessing...

Re: Help from a seasoned vet please.
If you have the stock piston, then that would be about right because of the dished piston. It is a dome piston as in the build thread of mine, But its running I am assembling it now because I took the gear reduction apart to look at it. I need a press to put the big gear on so I will do it another ...

yes. less than .002'' was polished off. My porting did as well, I have ran it now with no head gasket. I am using copper spray a gasket now.Bear45-70 wrote:You are aware that the machine work you did on the piston lowered the compression even more.

Re: 1985 spree BBK testing with tuned polini pipe.
That pipe will do nothing for the bottom end, top end only. The gear change will just hurt the low end more, but help the * out of the top end. Yeah I I could tell that when it was on the stock one, but it is worth it to me. Right now it will pull 35 up a steep hill, I am shaving the head now to ra...

Help from a seasoned vet please.
Have you ever shaved a 85 spree head .030'' and still had a sqeeze test of .036''? I have been shaving my head tonight with my 48mm BBK. My head gasket is .018'' thick which is a bit of that. So from what I understand I can shave another .016'' and still not have any issues? Thanks

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tJeTDYYu9a8 Watch this So it was brought to my attention by an member that I need to shave the head now to bring my compression back up because I raised the port height on the exhaust. He pm me so I figured I would share the info. It makes sense to me now but I did no...
