Couple of comments: Bottom line on any head milling or swap is running clearance, cold, should be .020" or .6mm head to piston, with head gasket installed and torqued to spec. Put some electrical solder into the spark plug hole, squish it with the head/piston, and measure it to see how you're ...

I squared up the sides a bit because I did not like how the vise was holding. The 1984-85 heads are small chamber and the 1986-87 heads are the large chamber. Cheap speed secret is to install the early head on the 86-87 engine for a compression boost. No shaving required. Here are a few pics of my head. This one is off my express I am doing a off frame restoration on. But I figured I would try it on this before my beloved spree.
