Re: New rings = less power :(
Upside down piston rings in some engines won't seal properly.

Re: How to split a AF16e case for noobs. Plus 120cc install
GL with your break in. Remember to invest extra time during the break in period. When you first start the engine cold the air fuel ratio will be leaner due to poor atomization of fuel (it's condensing inside your engine making it harder to burn completely). Once everything warms up, the fuel atomize...

Re: How to split a AF16e case for noobs. Plus 120cc install
It took me several bikes to develop a working break in procedure that I'm confident in its success. First of all jet for 32:1 even with Dominator. I know the bottle says 50:1 but all of your parts haven't worn in correctly to use that oil ratio. If you jet right, when you snap the throttle wide open...

Re: Alot of smoke after big bore, is this normal?
The weights you need is determined by a lot of factors. No 2 bikes are exactly the same and you need to experiment with what works best. In regards to gearing issues with weights, yes the weights do affect the overall gearing ratio but that's not how you tune a moped correctly. The trans is tuned to...

Re: variator
Do not grease the variator or rollers, ever. If you must use a lube, only use a dry lubricant like graphite for locks but even then it's completely unnecessary. From Hondasan's book of all things scooter based (my Aero's owner manual) I qoute "Lubricate the inside of the drive face with 10-15g...

You're doing good for your first time, just take your time and don't rush your work. Don't give up so easily, I think my first stroker had all sorts of problems mostly with fitment. Soft seizing is minor actually, some motors actually run better after they seize for some reason haha.

Re: couple questions about performance
Smoke isn't a bad thing but it is more of a nuisance than anything. 2 stroke engines burn oil along with the gas, that's just how it is without going into details.

Re: trans cooler
Sounds like a gimmick to me. I'm willing to bet more power can be obtained by tuning the bike correctly through the carb, manifold, reeds, ports and trans. No bike is tuned 100% perfectly, only with experience can you get close to that at any one time. Cooling the fuel may have some results but the...

Re: clutch?...piston ring?....gnomes?
To take off the nut it's not that hard but I have impact tools both air and electric. Just stand on opposite sides of the clutch nut and impact off with a 39mm. Tilt your toes up at the same time and if the clutch jumps it'll move away from you. Always use eye protection when you do this. However fo...

Re: 2001 Honda elite 50 already does 40 mph Check this post out
Lean running conditions can be severe to mild. Severe is hole in piston where you lose all compression. Mild problems can only be diagnosed after looking at total miles on the engine and tearing down the bore and actually looking at the conditions of the piston, rings and bore wall. When the motor r...

Re: Uni dirty?
If I understand the problem, the engine is bogging to the point it just dies when you snap the throttle wide open from idle. That is the result of the pilot jet being too small and in severe cases it could be that your needle diameter is too large (lean). The first thing to do is reset your air scre...

Unless you're looking to haul a lot of weight or to do stunts, I'd recommend moving away from stock gearing.

Re: Spree air filter mod: they said it was impossible!! HA!!!
Back in the day (we're talking before most aftermarket parts were made for the DIO engines), we used to make cheap filters out of wide mouth gatorade or pepsi bottles stuffed with a filtration element that we could buy in bulk. Compared to today's standards it looked cheap but if you trim the bottle...
