Re: Getting the Tazland BBK, GEARS, + MLM ran on a dyno

K guys, Shawn is telling me figure out what Jet size we want to use before performing the test. Saves me the labor cost if I can get it narrowed down to a certain jet size that should be tried. Like to do multiple guys, start a gofundme for me if you must, but sorry, will only allow 1 jet change in ...

Re: Getting the Tazland BBK, GEARS, + MLM ran on a dyno

Patience is all I have. Been going at it since like the end of April. It will all make sense once I post the pictures and explanations behind them.

Re: Getting the Tazland BBK, GEARS, + MLM ran on a dyno

My reasons for keeping it stock, mainly have to do with the restore. Otherwise I'd prefer a swap too. Knew what I was getting into before ordering the BBK, made sure to have a backup engine in case this one goes boom. Doing a bit of experimenting with fuel mixtures. Most 4 stroke BBK's are able to b...

Re: Getting the Tazland BBK, GEARS, + MLM ran on a dyno

I somewhat agree. Backup plan is engine B. But, I'm gonna have them AT LEAST try.

Re: Accidentally started it with engine kill on I think I F'

Well, highly doubt flipping the kill switch is what is causing the problem, but then again. Those switches are old. I wouldn't use the kill switch if the key is functional. Have you tried something very basic like jiggle the run switch a bit? It was an 84' yes? So no way you can try kick starting. T...

Re: Accidentally started it with engine kill on I think I F'

Now, what do you mean by, "won't stay on"? It starts and runs for a couple seconds then dies? Is that what you mean?

Re: Accidentally started it with engine kill on I think I F'

Uhm, obvious question. Did you change it back from engine kill to run and then try, or is it still set at kill engine?

Re: Getting the Tazland BBK, GEARS, + MLM ran on a dyno

the spree I ran isn't mine and I wont be able to experiment with it I think that's even better yet. It wasn't yours, just a test that happened for whatever reason. I mean, come on, we all got/get different MPH out of stock sprees. All I could get my Iowa Spree to go is 23. Some people claim 35 or b...

Re: Getting the Tazland BBK, GEARS, + MLM ran on a dyno

You need some configurations to test. I'll throw in; since I produce filter elements, I can make some different configurations from material on hand. Stock Spree element is 80 PPI and 15mm thick. I can produce a 80 PPI and 10mm thick element. This should cut some restriction on airflow, but I've no...

Re: Getting the Tazland BBK, GEARS, + MLM ran on a dyno

NICE!! A baseline reading to compare to. What stinks a bit, is mine is only going to be but one configuration. Honestly, the Spree won't be driven so much. I'm guessing it's around 70% complete to where I want it to be. Gotta grab some break cables and throttle cable from Taz one of these times, few...

Re: Getting the Tazland BBK, GEARS, + MLM ran on a dyno

Can't wait for the results. Do you want to try one of my bigger pilot jets for your dyne test? Taz Nah, we'll go with what you sent and see what Shawn says. See if maybe he thinks we need to up the jet size, take it from there. And like graphite9 was saying, the Spree might not even spin the drum. ...

Re: Getting the Tazland BBK + MLM ran on a dyno

I was gonna tell Shawn to try out different jet sizes and tunes, but I changed my mind about that. I think if I had him do that, it just might complicate things for someone who is trying to learn. There are so many variables that people would prefer. I would imagine the MLM will have SOME effect on ...

Getting the Tazland BBK, GEARS, + MLM ran on a dyno

So, as we all (should) know, you NEED that airbox on your Spree. While on the other hand, some people swear by pod filter for better performance when using a BBK. Who's right, who's wrong? The instructions that came with my BBK, said drill 3 1" holes in the airbox. My contention, and I am by no...

Re: Massive Honda Spree Restoring Project - Check it out!

I guess if I was gonna have a fleet of Sprees like that. I'd probably do a rainbow of colors ROY G BIV & B&W would cover 9 colors. Then maybe some 80's NEON Orange, Green, Pink, regular pink, and baby blue. Be a mighty purty collection, that's for sure.
