Re: New 2007 Elite won't start.
Only 115 miles, I am assuming it has been sitting for quite some time. That air filter is probably junk. Might wanna consider changing that out. On my Spree, that is what prevented it from starting. Put a couple cap fulls of 2 stroke oil on the filter and smoosh it a bit to let it soak in. If your l...

Where can I find these gears?
So I have searched and searched all over the forum and haven't found any topic that gives me any leads. According to the Wiki page, I can use 15T/81 gears on my Spree. I bought a 13T drive shaft off of eBay, but I want a 15T with 81. I see these are aftermarket, so who makes them, and where can I bu...

Ordered a 13-T gear for my Spree, have question.
So Taz was saying the Iowa Sprees had the 12T gears not the 13T, so I picked up a 13T off of eBay, muffler is drilled out, BBK is almost finished (dang job has to get in the way of my fun). So what I am wondering is what kind of top speed have you guys with the 48mm BBK's been getting with JUST the ...

Re: What's next, What's next, What's next!!!
Here are ALOT more BEFORE pictures that I took this morning. I started the disassembly process for the BBK, and have my paint ready to go. I took the wheels in to have them powder coated yellow to match the paint. Take a look now, because the next pictures of the Spree I post are gonna be pictures o...

Re: iowa spree top speed issue
Your iowa spree has the 12t drive gear. That gear will usually only hit 25 stock. Are you referring to the final drive gear, or the pinion? I am assuming mine also has the same since it's also an 86' Iowa Edition. I'm gonna have to look into changing that out. EDIT: I checked out partzilla and I'm ...

So on my 86' Iowa Spree, thus far I have done the following: 48mm BBK (tazland), Paint job, customized plates, windshield, new tires, new trunk, mirrors with MP3 player, new spark plug, drilled out "IOWA" muffler. This 86' Spree had been sitting for about 15 years in a barn, has about 4500...

Re: Just bought a 48mm BBK for my Iowa Spree, have a couple
Thanks Taz, just got the kit today. Now I just gotta find time to get it installed. Not looking for a huge speed increase, just for a basic overhaul and something that can carry my 300+ lb frame with it in regular traffic here around Spencer at oh say 30-35 mph. The typical Iowa edition Spree just i...

Re: Just bought a 48mm BBK for my Iowa Spree, have a couple
Get that restictor washer drilled out if you havent already. I cook the pipes untill they glow as red as i can get them for as long as i can and the flames stop shooting out of both ends. Let it cool completly on its own, do not quench with water. And i wouldnt rinse the pipe with water, use compre...

Re: iowa spree top speed issue
In the very least, a 68, the Iowa editions usually have a 62 or 65 I believe. I'd look around though and see what others are using. I'm still pretty new to the Sprees myself. Don't wanna steer you wrong.

Thanks for the link to exactly what I was looking for, just bought me a set of Kenda K329 2.75-10's. Price was reasonable enough.Wheelman-111 wrote: Motorcycle Superstore

Re: iowa spree top speed issue
Your probably running too lean, if the washer is missing from the muffler and it's an actual Iowa Spree, then someone drilled it out and probably didn't rejet it thinking it would be fine just drilling out the muffler

Re: Spree tire size aspect ratio debate
Thank you for the clarification. That really had me puzzled, and thinking "seriously, that wide of a tire will fit, that's friggen huge"!
