Re: stretching elite-s

I assume if that you are stretching the bike, it is because it has quite a few mods to it. With that said, you probably have an aftermarket carb? The OKO kits on ebay come with quite a long throttle cable and you should be good on that front. The brake cable may be an issue. If you cant squeeze a fe...

Re: Let's talk rear suspension theory.

Well, I decided to take my lesson learned and combine it into an engine mount design that would absorb vibration under no-load, and tighten up under load. I came up with a rubber isolated bar with a tension spring holding it in place. It worked perfectly and held the swingarm down while absorbing th...

Re: Twin dio possible?

D, you think that you are going to get off that easy?! You know that the first one goes right to you for "final inspections" Well, lessons learned yesterday. First, measure twice and cut once. Ill have to figure this issue out and determine if it was user error, or calculator error. http:/...

I would really appreciate that a lot. I will be leaving the country for a bit soon, but I will have to get back to you on that.

Re: Let's talk rear suspension theory.

Well I went and tested a few theories that I had on the suspension. I extended my motor mount by 3 inches from where I had it. I don't know where this if from stock, since the bike is a swap in the first place. http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o210/majourlittle/IMAG0716.jpg Anyway, I took it aroun...

Re: Twin dio possible?

I was originally going to splice in a a second pulse pickup into the bike and a separate coil and it 180* from the current one. After some looking, that may be difficult. Second though was to put another magnet on the stator and drive two coils, but the second pulse for the second engine would set o...

Re: Twin dio possible?

Well, I got bored last night and went to work... Does that make sense? Anyway, Did a little running of the machine. I have a feeling that I may have to do this in two blocks as predicted before. I have drill bits long enough to drill the holes that I need, but I just dont have the travel on my CNC. ...

Re: Twin dio possible?

I have been sitting on this for a bit. As of late, I have been waiting on my tooling to arrive as well as find a piece of foam big enough for me to cut into. Well, that time has arrived... Either I may go to work tonight and play, or tomorrow, but at some point, the magic happens. Goal here is to la...

Re: Let's talk rear suspension theory.

here is my 5 inch street stretch. It is very comfy to ride and stops the engine from bucking upwards. What kid of issues did you have with it bucking upwards? Adding the stock spring that close to the frame must put quite a push down on the swingarm? What kid of movement do you see in that area now...

Re: Let's talk rear suspension theory.

Thats why I am concerned. That movement translates to the rear wheel and could induce some sway. Some of that movement is caused by the wingarm itself. I pulled the rear of the bike off last night and I noted that I had constructed my hangar so that it doesent free-move and is rubber isolated. I hav...

Re: Let's talk rear suspension theory.

...Usefull Insight... I need to lengthen the hanger to reduce the wheelie action I am getting right now. I feel that adding length to the hanger will create much more leverage on the existing hangar and induce quite a bit of flex and some issues with handling. By pinning the front of the hangar to ...

Re: Let's talk rear suspension theory.

I disagree. With the front end of the mount pinned in place, an extreme force would to through the frame just as much as a solid front mount. The absorbtion would take place in the rear spring. If you were to take the existing mount and weld it down, the only extra support you COULD require is a pip...

Let's talk rear suspension theory.

I have brought this up before with little result, but I think that I will bring it up again. On my 89 Elite-E with a dio swap, I have run into a few issues that I want to discuss with the populace. Why does the scooter engine hanger pivot at two positions? I know that it is mildly restrained at the ...

Re: Another Elite E swap: Project Elite-D

Ok, I have moved a few projects down the line and I am reviving this guy. My grandfather that gave me this scooter passed away last May. I wanted to get this done before he left us all, but life takes a toll on all of us. This scooter was the bike I learned to ride on two wheels. I finally got the e...
