Re: Honda reflex 250 smokes and dies when throttled
All I've done is the "K-mod" where you remove 3 weights from the variator to get higher revs at start up. Mostly I like to pick up neglected or broken older scooters or bikes, fix them slowly and then sell them or just ride. This one was cheap for several reasons, but the steaming and bad ...

Re: Honda reflex 250 smokes and dies when throttled
There's a coolant line that goes to a preheater on the side of the carb, and a vacuum line that goes from another place right at the carb, and if you get them backwards the bike will send up clouds of steam and run like crap. Any diagram I ever found looked like a dish of spaghetti to me, so I ended...

Re: 85 Spree, zero power anywhere key on.
The switch that controls the brake light also controls the circuit to the solenoid, but it's a 2 step plunger switch so it's possible that it needs to be adjusted. I don't know what you're working on, but the switch gets pulled by a wire from the foot brake lever and it can be adjusted by turning a ...

Re: 250 elite with sidecar
It's beautiful, but a sidecar must take all the fun out of the 2 wheel experience. I can't imagine how it feels to turn either way. You must have to steer it.

Re: Lost keys
There's code stamped on the side of the ignition switch. If you get that the dealer or a good lock shop can cut a new key.

Re: honda gyro starting problems
Good luck with that carb. You know it should smoke some, and usually the smoking clears to a minimal level after a bit. Is your bystarter (enrichener) working? It's the electric thing in the black case on the carb.

Re: honda gyro starting problems
The replacement carb on Ebay is not a Gyro carb. You'll see when it comes that it's different, but you can use some parts. My guess is that the oil injector is leaking down a little and the plug is fouling. Try cleaning the plug again and starting it. If you are pre-mixing 2 cycle oil in the gas and...

Re: Gyro - general thread
I don't know whether the airbox will work, but you need to have one. These 2 cycle engines really need one. As far as whether you should buy the Gyro, I say YES! but then I'm another owner. It's just the silliest ride you can find. Slow and low and probably dangerous as * in traffic, because no one ...

Re: Parent with dimensia
My mother-in-law was almost completely mentally gone by the age of 58, after taking anti-depressants and tranquilizers for most of her adult life, sometimes prescribed and sometimes slipped to her by a pharmacist friend. She carried on in an increasingly bad state for years, and died at 66. It was a...

If it is a baffle you can't really fix it anyway, so your plan to ride it until something breaks isn't completely crazy. Good luck.

Re: Please help me find this weird RATTLE NOISE!
You can use a piece of hose bout 3 feet long, one end in your ear, the other you bring up to the running engine and then scan around until you find the exact place where the sound is coming from. It could be a muffler baffle, but no one can tell without more location.

Ugly is right!
But better "Hey, look at that idiot with the ugly scooter!" than the other choice, "I never saw him, officer."
