Re: Final Scooter

You can't go wrong with the bigger mid 80's Honda Elites. I know they are off topic here, but I've found them perfect for running around in the San Francisco Bay Area, where you have to get up and go right now to keep out of traffic problems. An Elite 250 is a big scooter, but will run at 65 all day...

Re: Gyro - general thread

Not much happening on this thread lately. So, I was looking around in my storage place for something else and decided that, since I have recently lost a bunch of weight, I should try the Gyro again to see how it does. I was over 200 pounds and there were hills here in the San Francisco Bay Area that...

This kind of statement is no help at all. I've used Kendas a lot, with no problems at all, at speeds up to 65. It's a big company in Taiwan.

Why did you say "Stay away from Kendas."

Re: need a key....help

The code is stamped on any key cylinder, so you can remove the seat lock and find it there. And hope that it was never replaced. They all matched when the scooter was new. The code is stamped on the side of the cylinder. If you have it in your hands at home, take it to the dealer. There are even com...

Re: Trying to get Spree running after 11 year storage

Bystarters that fail or have poor electric connections allow cold starts perfectly, because if they don't work they leave the enriching circuit wide open all the time. When the engine starts to warm up the mixture is just too rich and the engine runs badly and wastes gas and won't start at all. If i...

Re: Trying to get Spree running after 11 year storage

Vacuum pulls open a valve in the petcock. Gas should flow if you apply a little vacuum to the vacuum line. These vehicles have a thing called a bystarter that is a black cylinder attached to the carb. It is electrically powered and has a needle that extends and closes an enrichment circuit as the en...

Re: Briefly out of commission

But that's why you have uninsured/underinsured coverage with pretty high limits. That's the only insurance you buy that actually helps you. They are supposed to treat you like the other guy's insurance should, so you can ask for reimbursement for lost earnings, things that you had to pay someone to ...

Compression. If it's too low it won't start on gas alone.

Re: 1887 Honda spree wont start!!!

While you are waiting for Spring try replacing the vacuum hoses, one at a time so you don't screw them up. It's not worth looking for cracks, just do it. Replace the fuel line, too. Then be sure the gas tank is clean and maybe drain out the old gas and fill it when you decide to start it again. Make...

There's also a bushing in the base of some Honda speedos that will scream in a high pitched squeak. You have to oil it.

So register it as a 1980. What do you know? They say, is it really an 80? You say, I guess, that's what the guy said. What guy? Me. I say its an 80. Even if I'm wrong, I'm right.
