Re: Help with tube in carberateur

I used a pencil. Put the sharpened point into the tube, turn the whole thing upside down and bonk the head of the pencil against your workbench.

Re: Brand New $499

Stick with the Hondas. They aren't the prettiest thing, but they run and run, and they start. Once you get a Honda right, it stays right. The metal they use to build the China scooters is low quality. Everything wears out. Meanwhile your nearly 30 year old Honda keeps bubbling along.

Re: An easy way to get water out of a spree crank case?

If there's water in the crankcase why not take the engine off the frame, take off the head and the cylinder and dump out what you can. Then you could put it in your gas grill, close the lid and cook it dry. Half an hour at low heat ought to do it.

Re: Need some help getting a 86 Spree running

Vacuum leak? Check the hoses and the intake manifold between the carb and the engine. If it idles, will it idle longer than 20 seconds? If not, check the fuel lines for pinches or clogs, or just replace the line. Do you have an air filer and box on it? If it's just wide open then the mixture is just...

Re: new to forum and scooters- with problem

I use a steel guitar string to poke it clear. You can usually get a scrap from the trash at a music store where they replace strings. Just ask for the thinnest string fragment they have. A piece a foot long is perfect.

Re: Newbie with Elite Eighty

I've hauled quite a few Honda scooters back from the cliff edge of death, and the first thing you should do is take the entire engine out of the frame, take off the rear wheel, and get to work. You can get to every part easily if the engine is on your bench. It's really not too hard to take it out, ...

Re: Gyro - general thread

That Gyro Stream looks like an electric handicap scooter. It would be a grin to motor down the street at 30, waving to the crowds! But, I'll stick with my '85. I just wish it would go up the big hills here in the Bay Area.

Re: Is a starter "rebuildable" ?

Sounds more like a starter clutch than a starter motor issue. I don't know if you have a clutch or a pinion, but what you describe sounds like slippage.

Re: Gyro - general thread

Well, I replaced the bushing and it works fine. I guess that was it. The arm really only goes on one way because the splines don't go completely around the shaft and there's a punch mark on the arm where there are no splines so you can line it up. You need a good flashlight and a mirror on a stick t...

Re: Gyro - general thread

I've been having a problem with the parking lock. It didn't want to unlock the wheel. The frame lock works perfectly, and I didn't change any adjustments. I took off the right side cover and everything looks OK, the spring is springy, etc. Put it together, still stuck. Took the cover off again, this...

Re: 2001 Elite 80 no spark - troubleshooting help

I have found the connection between the spark plug cable and the plastic cap that snaps onto the spark plug can be a problem. The cap screws on to the cable in most applications. If you hold the cable and unscrew the cap from it it should come apart easily. If its hard to do, stop. They might be mol...

If you want info about these scooters there is a huge amount at www.ch250.net The 250 is very similar to the 150. There is a ch250 group on Yahoo, and a CH150 group. You should look at www.jacksscootershop.com for info, too.
