Re: Pulsar question

Ah, the mag pickup. Glad to hear you got it running. I didn't even know that part was adjustable.

Re: Honda SA50 Headlight Replacement?

I'm thinking something like this, where it attaches to the top cover and is accessible from the front (vs using the metal framework) and uses an off-the-shelf automotive LED fog light. You'd adjust the light angle by adjusting the angle of the LED element. It would use way less power than stock (10-...

Re: Honda SA50 Headlight Replacement?

Is there still no good aftermarket replacement headlamp for these bikes? I'm surprised no one's developed one, given the thing replaces as a unit. IIRC while the metal ring is a different size for for the 84-86 Spree, 87 Spree/Elite, and 88-94 Elite, the actual glass part is identical between the mo...

Re: Pulsar question

I'd pull the manual (posted here) and look up "No Spark" troubleshooting.
There is no "gap" in the Spree ignition system. It runs off the CDI.
That said, did you try unscrewing the spark plug cap, trimming off the end, then re-installing it? I've had issues with that before.

How to register for an account on Hondaspree.net

Given the high number of illegitimate accounts, user registration now requires Admin review and validation.

I strongly suggest you email me at hondaspree@proton.me if you are registering an account with an introduction.
The likelihood your account will be activated otherwise is basically zero.

There was a ramp plate kit for that bike. Biggest improvement available for the price, on the one SE50 I restored.

Should I set autolocking on this board?
I've never bothered, but necroposting at this point in the board's life is probably pointless.
LMK thoughts.

Re: 1987 Spree problems

Have you checked the bystarter and associated fuel circuit? Aside from that, you're changing too many things at once to narrow it down. I'd suggest putting it back to stock, get it running right, then add the parts back one at a time. I'm personally not sold on upjetting for anything aside from inta...

Re: 87 Elite Battery suggestions

Yes, basically. To really assess it you need to disconnect at the rear brake. Cable should glide freely, almost zero friction (which new cables have.) If it works, don't mess with it, just something to watch. Remembering they are sort of a pain to replace as you have to thread them through the frame...

Re: 87 Elite Battery suggestions

On the rear brake, make sure the cable is working freely. If it's sticky, consider replacing it. Much better braking force that way.

Re: '85 Spree randomly died

They're definitely different left and right, but for some reason I thought there was a different crankshaft by year. I may be confusing it with the Elites of same era... or wristpins? It's embarrassing how long it's been since I've owned or worked on one.

Re: '85 Spree randomly died

There's two different sizes used, right? IIRC the early Spree used a smaller size than later. Or there was some other difference in the case... I'll have to look through the parts catalog.

Re: '85 Spree randomly died

First of all, if a seal blew out, it was only one, and typically, it is the left one which is the easiest one to change. The seal is still available from your Honda dealer, or you can just push the old seal back into place if you want to use your old one. The part number is 91201-GK8-003 OIL SEAL (...

+1. I'd just do the compression test now, especially since the bike won't start. Then start looking for air leaks, including those crank seals.
