It takes less, but only slightly so... I have had the idle all over the place through all of this, with almost no change in how it starts... Or lack there of.eliteguy50 wrote:Is your idle set too low? Does it take less, more, or the same throttle when you take the air filter off?

Re: aero 80 oil pump retrofit question
so after a few weeks, my computer dying and now building a suitable replacement computer... extra funds are to scarce to try to see this through. I hate to even admit it, but im not going to get around to finishing it anytime soon as this has become very obvious that i would need access to a lathe t...

Re: aero 80 oil pump retrofit question
Ok so the pin proved to be a real PITA to remove, got it out along with the pump shaft. First big difference is that behind the threads that drive the pump is slightly smaller on the 80. Second there is a little bump out on the end that goes into the pump, where as the SE50 is flat on the end. Howev...

Re: aero 80 oil pump retrofit question
turtle, if you can findmore roll pins at a hardware store, then try to drill out the pin. just a suggstion. Drilling a steel pin in an aluminum housing is a very good way yo ruin the housing. That's what I was thinking... I think I'm going to have to dremel out a notch on either side then pull the ...

Re: aero 80 oil pump retrofit question
I never thought of that mouse, however my wives aero isn't exactly ridable, however I guess I could run it at idle with a specified amount of gas in the tank until it runs out. Then factor from there... First I gotta figure out how to get that pin out, I can't press it though, it looks like I have t...

aero 80 oil pump retrofit question
Ok, so i got to thinking about the idea of using a NH80 oil pump that was mentioned in a thread a couple weeks ago, after waiting for a pump to pop up on Ebay for a reasonable price, i figured i would give it a shot. As much as anyone can preach the pro's of pre-mix, i do really like the "fill ...

Re: 1985 AERO 80 / NH80 AFTERMARKET GEARS
I do not believe i have ever seen any gears for anything above the SE50/NB50 engine in the family of aeros. But on that same token i dont believe i have ever seen anyone try to find aftermarket gears from any other model that would work as well... Bear would probably know best on this, as he owns at...

Re: snow and ice storm
I forgot about the fact that you guys up there are way more hilly and mountainous then we have here in MO. Even when we got the like 18 or so inches in 24 hrs mentioned before, with ice to boot, and i was still able to get to work. Granted it took me 3 hours to get home rather than 30 minutes... Whe...

Re: snow and ice storm
Odd that you guys are getting a standard KC winter while KC is getting one of the most mild winters I have ever seen in my life... I we usually have atleast one really gnarly ice storm a year, and so far this year we have like 1 inch of snow... Keep warm and safe, guys. Good to know you got generato...

Re: 2t, the dying breed
I personally love 2t for its simplicity and "magic", it is just so much more fun to tinker with... Granted it can be quite fickle to tune sometimes or require more attention sometimes than 4t, but cc to cc, and 2t bikes always seem to end up a little faster. Plus castor smells awesome. I t...

Re: Case gasket for '85 Aero motor
If you have never cut a gasket before, one of the best tricks you can ever know is to put a light coating of oil on the surface you are making a gasket for (of course remove locating dowels and make sure the surface is clean and flat) and then press onto your gasket material. This will give you a pr...

If you don't want to go through the hassle of extending the foot pegs, dratv.com carries them in their web store. They also carry a bunch of retrofit harnesses to make the 12v stuff compatible.

Re: Oil pump priming primer
Couldnt you also chuck the shaft in a drill and spin it till it pulls the air bubbles through? Or use a brake bleeder to pull the air through. Using a syringe just seems like way to much work.
