Re: Highest priced spree?

If you think $3,000+ is expensive for a 50cc moped, you should check out the prices of Yamaha FS1E Fizzys on ebay.co.uk A recent sale went for over $6,000! https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Yamaha-Fs1e-1975-baja-brown-moped/202256764767?hash=item2f17714f5f:g:ShwAAOSwfghapORH https://i.ebayimg.com/thumbs/im...

Re: Spree/Elite carb interchange question

Don't see why there should be any problem if you jet correctly.
I've seen fuel injected engines converted to carbs - just different methods of mixing the air and fuel.

May need a bit of fettling to get it to attach to the inlet stub and airbox correctly without any air leaks.

Re: Crank Questions - Spree

Bearings usually have a code stamped on the side of them. Use this to look for alternatives as it'll bring up stuff not listed as Honda parts.

Just had to do this myself to repair my washing machine (not a euphemism for any of my scoots btw :) )

@Wheelman - I've always wondered if the frost on frozen bearings has any ill affects later on.
Have you ever had any issues e.g. with disassembly?

Re: Holy Grail of Clean, Simple, Cheap 2-Smoke

That Piaggio engine arcitecture looks similar to the Hanomag 2 stroke super-charged diesel tractors from the 50's. Bought a book recently on building an electric motorcycle, you ended up with something like a Harley with 15 lead acid batteries strapped to it with a top speed of a Dio-less Spree. It ...

Re: 1983 Melody measurements

Hi Ant-d, If you're looking to tune your Melody you'll need to swap out the motor. I've wasted many hours and a fair bit of money on gaskets looking for big bore kits. The best you can do is get an oversized piston and bore the barrel out to about 58cc - not worth it in my opinion. What kind of melo...

Re: Honda Vision Engine Type?

Hi Aij, nice to see someone else from the UK! Don't get a Melody as there's no bolt on tuning options and the prices have sky rocketed lately. Vision motor has readily available big bore kits. I think there are 2 versions of the engine, one has the exhaust port point straight forward and the other h...
