1981 Honda express SR bogs at 1/4 throttle
This one has got me in a tailspin. It will start and idle like it should. Giving it throttle on the stand, it will rev up just fine. Road testing, it will run great up to about 1/4 to 1/2 throttle then bog to almost die. Has good compression (130 psi) and good spark. Timing is good. I have swapped a...

Re: stripped carb bolt holes
I have used a Tusk m6x1 thread repair kit (like heli coil) on a dozen carbs with great success.
What ever route you take in repairing, be very careful NOT to use a bolt that is too long!!
It will distort the by-starter mount area, then you've got problems.

Re: Gas tank fitting pump / diaphragm thingee gone bad?
If you have gas dripping out of the carb, you also have a bad float needle.

Re: Weird Carb issues?? Maybe Choke?
Are you SURE that the throttle slide is in correctly. The long slot on the slide should be lined up with a small peg inside the carb. If not in correctly, the slide will not go down, causing high rev

Re: Weird Carb issues?? Maybe Choke?
In your first post, it wouldn't start due to lack of gas to cylinder. Now it "defuels when running wide open". Maybe petcock issues?

Re: Weird Carb issues?? Maybe Choke?
Maybe bystarter is stuck (not retracting when cool)

Re: Weird Carb issues?? Maybe Choke?
If you don't have enough vacuum to pull the gas up to the cylinder, the crank seal behind the drive pulley may have come out.

Re: What Where Which Fuel Line?
I've been using Tygon brand fuel line for years in all my scooters. It is clear yellow, so you can see what's going through, and available at most auto stores. It's a good quality product and haven't had any issues with it. The size for the fuel line is 3/16" ID and 5/16" OD. This size wil...

If plug is not wet, it could be faulty petcock or crank seal(s)

Re: Using 86 wire harness on 85 motor. SPREE
You probably will want to use the 1986 fuel tank and sending unit. 1984/85 has 2 wires and 1986/87 has 3 wires.

Re: Tapping spree carb
Tusk Tools also sells a 6x1.00mm kit that has everything you need to repair stripped carb threads (drill bit, tap, tool, and inserts) for around $14. I've been using that kit for a few years and have had good luck with it. There are a few thread repair kits out there and to let you know, the inserts...

Re: 86 Spree Oil pump and hose.
I prefer using the oil pump. Sometimes when the oil pump gets old, it will leak a little, putting extra oil in the crankcase. That will make it smoke a little more when started (after it has been sitting for a while). Like MrJumps says......be sure that the oil pump is working. Correct premix is a l...
