Re: '85 Spree randomly died
Greetings: The assertion that the scooter got faster, briefly, before dying supports the hypothesis that a vacuum leak formed. It could result from a crank end seal, but there are lots of other places where such a leak can arise, starting with the rubber from the airbox going all the way to the exha...

Yes, Honda started all their new 1985s right after assembly.
How hard is it to spin at the front pulley? No binding or catching?
Any reason to suspect too much oil on top of the piston - enthusiastic over-use of assembly lube?

Yes. The AF05 version had the plug vertical in the center and was accessed through this hatch. The AF16 moved the plug angled and installed from behind. (If you have skinny monkey hands...). So they sealed the plastic pet carrier with a giant rivet.

Re: 1985 aero 50 big bore kit not cranking
Greetings: No kickstarter on a stock 1985. You can install the '86-'87 cover and the outer sheave with the castle nubs if the parts can be found. Tough nowadays. If you have a multi-tester, see that the battery has at least 12.8 volts or more. Charge it if you can, but these batteries won't take a c...

Yes of course I meant the NS. But it's eight years later, liquid cooling ostensibly means more power, perhaps a few more pounds, and they go with a Drum?! Not curious ?!? Maybe cost was a factor, but if I owned an NS I'd think about converting to disc if only for the Profile.

Flash 9: A Malfunction! (Heavens to Betsy!)
Greetings: It somehow came to my attention that Flash 9's brake lamp was no longer functional. As Feruccio famoously said, "What's-a behind me is-a not important", but I have to pass a State Inspection. I removed all the rear plastics before realizing that the lenses come off with 2 screws...

Re: 1998 Elite SR low top speed
Greetings: Thet-thar's ^^ good advice fa sho'. Depending on mileage, another suspect would be the air filter. Pretty easy to check first. Worth changing a spark plug too. Another less-likely culprit is exhaust blockage. Including mileage and engine behavior - Stuttering? - when symptoms appear would...

Re: Honda Shadow 50cc -> big bore kit
Greetings: The red - on - Chrome scooter in the pics above appears to be a Chinese machine sold as the "Venice 150" among probably many other names. That is no Honda as far as I can tell. The only badging I could see in your pictures is stamped on the belt cover, which also looks like no H...

Re: New to sprees…1996 Honda elite 50 advice
Greetings: 900 miles in 27 years?! SCORE!! Ah, but cosmetics make or break the deal. Post up some pics for advice on repairs. NOS plastic parts are hard to find. Aftermarket knockoffs are brittle junk, but with care can be installed and made to look OK. I recommend you check the date stamps on the t...

So scarce are these, but if one of either model ever comes up within striking distance, I'm DOWN! But does anyone else find it curious that the MB5 went back to drum brakes? *?
