Re: Looking at an 86 spree for first scooter - suggestions?
Welcome to the forum. I grew up in your neck of the woods, and my folks are both retired teachers from the Berlin school system. If you get the tazland 44mm big bore kit, along with his gears, as well as 3.0 tires, you should see 35 - 40 mph. I have done this with my 1984 spree and used it as a dail...

Re: TIRES!! WERE AT
i am running michelin 3.0 X 10 on my spree. I had to shave a little off of the rear fender but not completely eliminate it. I also had a rubbing issue on the front fender when I applied the brake. It wore a small hole in the front fender, and no longer rubs. With regards to speed, I put the new tire...

Re: Flash 3.26
I started as a kid on a sunfish, raced J24's in college, and larger monos after college both blue water and beercan racing. Switched to a catmaran about 10 years ago, and wont go back to a mono. Nothing like sailing at 20kts flat vs 8kts on an incline.

lol at the broad reach. Are you also a "ragman"? Springtime here in New England too. Looking forward to a long broad reach on my badass catamaran within the month.

Re: Premix and oil injection for 44mm BBK?(i searched)
I have the 44mm kit. I am running the 86 jet that Taz sent along taped to the top of the box. May switch to a 90 as fastplastic has suggested along with the uni filter. The setup as I have it along with 3.0 tires also give me 38 mph every day, and have been clocked by a cop doing 44.

Re: Good Battery Deal
hey kerry, they are going to ship it to the Legris Ave store in West Warwick for me. It should be in tomorrow. Was hoping to be able to take it to work in Pawtucket on Thursday and Friday. Gary Ley says its supposed to be a balmy 50-55 both days. Of course when I walked out this am, my shrivelled nu...

Good Battery Deal
Its getting warm in New England (hopefuly not just a teaser) and I am thinking about riding again. Battery was dead as can be at the end of the season, so I went shopping for a new one. Right now Advance Auto dot com has a deal on batteries and I thought I should pass it on to those who need one. Th...

Re: Premix and oil injection for 44mm BBK?(i searched)
Hello, I have 5 1/2" inch holes in the top of the airbox, toward the rear of the bike. I also run about 1.5 oz extra oil per tank of gas to compensate for the increase in cc's of the engine. I found that if I ran on the stock pump with no additionial oil in the fuel, that I would soft seize. I ...

Re: Added Respect for Bear
Crazy stuff. I was never one of those powerboats vs. sailboat guys, but never really paid attention to racing powerboats, just because they were not my interest. Watching this poorly produced public access show casued me to step back and take pause. Again, hats off.

Re: Added Respect for Bear
did you ever capsize at speed? if so was the boat recoverable? were you injured? dont know how the guy I saw capsize lived, but there is no way the boat was recoverable. I have capsized at 21 kts, but was able to get the boat back up with the help of a power boat and sail back home. the only injurie...

Added Respect for Bear
I was watching some public access cable when I couldnt sleep last night. Saw a program on some locals who were racing powerboats here in New England. I could not help but think of Bear. That is some serious s***. I have huge amounts of respect for anyone with the TALENT to drive those race boats (mo...

Re: Expansion chamber muffler for the Spree(taz)
Marc, Any ideas as to when you will have this ready? I did a bake and shake on my 84 exhaust, and while it worked, it sounds like a marracca when you shake it. That will only lead to more problems down the road im sure. Love to see what it will do to the bike with your 44 mm kit and the gears. Curre...

Re: painting pipes?
rustoleum makes a grill paint that is supposed to be good over 1000 degrees. I used it on my exhaust and it has lasted for over a year so far. it is a gloss black. Polishes up really nice with rubbing compund afterward.

Talked to Kerry on phone last night for a while. He is a good dude, and I look forward to hopefuly going to see the bike tonite. If anything, it will be a great ride for my wife to enjoy and ride while I ride my spree. Will be nice to be doing local business with a fellow honda spree board member. A...
