Bent motor mount?

Hi folks, So I know my 01’ Elite has been wrecked, and I made a post about the front wheel being tilted a while back due to a slightly bent fork. I was able to fix it as it was only slightly bent, however the bike still pulls right. I was looking at it in my driveway the other day and noticed that t...

Re: Replaced Battery, Wont start. IT WILL turn over.

Hello and welcome, Motormike touched on all the bullet points. It is normal for these scooters to be tough to start after sitting for a week or so. You should DEFINITELY install a new air filter as yours might be starting to crumble and fall apart depending on how old it is. I bought a new one for m...

Re: 1992 Elite 50cc dies with throttle / gas

If you look down into the carb from the side of the bike I believe it is at the 12 o clock position. In other words the slot on the throttle slide should be facing the bike. I think, it’s been a few months since I had mine apart. You CAN screw the throttle cable back on with the slide inserted incor...

Re: 1992 Elite 50cc dies with throttle / gas

When you put it back together did you make sure the carb throttle slide was aligned with the notch on the carb? If not, it will hold the needle all the way up and you’ll basically be stuck at full throttle. As far as the screw, assuming you are talking about the mix screw, I believe for yours the se...

Re: Polini Clutch Spring ID help

Maybe they are the Honda ones on this page? http://catalogue.polini.com/dep/polini_ ... _molle.pdf

If so they’d be engaging around 6k. SSS has sets in 1k increments from 4K to 7k.

Re: Key blanks for copies?

I had considered that. The nut that I tested was actually the one that came on the ZX pulley/KN Clutch assembly from SSS. I have yet to test it on the stock pulley/clutch that's on it now, so I may end up needing a 39mm after all.

Re: Key blanks for copies?

I do have one and it fits very well. It’s just unusual that a LARGER socket than the smallest one that fits the nut is the best option, isn’t it?

Re: Key blanks for copies?

It’s on the wiki: http://hondaspree.net/wiki/index.php5/C ... isassembly

Says 39 is best, 38 “will work, but not well”. 39mm is a rare Pokémon indeed...

Re: Key blanks for copies?

I'll see what I can find at the other local hardware stores and maybe pop into the Honda dealer if I don't find anything.

On the subject of a 39mm socket, I'm a bit confused as to why it works better than a 38 if a 38 fits?

Re: Key blanks for copies?

Yeah I'd rather avoid paying out the nose for Honda copies if possible. The hardware store I went to said they weren't sure if it would work but if it didn't they wouldn't charge me for it. The key has "C15" stamped on it which doesn't bring up much, but I do see some key blanks on Ebay th...

Key blanks for copies?

Hoping someone can help with this one, I have only one key for my 2000 Elite and I'd like to get some copies made. My local hardware store tried the closest looking one they had but it wouldn't work. Has anyone had any luck getting copies made for their scooter? If so, by any chance do you know what...

Re: Good CVT Setups for 9:1 Gears/ZX on stock AF16 motor

One more question: does anyone know if clutch shoe springs that are made for the stock clutch will fit on the KN planning clutch that SSS sells?

Re: Good CVT Setups for 9:1 Gears/ZX on stock AF16 motor

Thanks for the suggestions, I think the set of locking pliers is a good investment since those chain wrenches tend to be expensive and the strap wrench I have works great for the clutch. I wish SSS had a good tool for it since I have to make an order for roller weights and a contra spring anyway. Wi...

Re: Good CVT Setups for 9:1 Gears/ZX on stock AF16 motor

Unfortunately I don't have an impact gun, only a small impact driver (for wood screws mostly) which won't quite do the job. Maybe I'll just have to get a piece of aluminum bar and hack something out that would bolt into the crankcase while meshing with the teeth on the drive pulley. Man I wish I sti...

Re: Good CVT Setups for 9:1 Gears/ZX on stock AF16 motor

I love learning the "why" along with how things work, so I doubt I'd get bored reading more, but thanks for the tip! Bones also suggested to possibly add heavier weights, so I think that's what I'll be doing, along with changing to a softer clutch center spring. I'll of course make the cha...
